Well, those who have already cooked this porridge once or twice have probably got a taste and cook it often, because it is both tasty and healthy, like other cereals. In this recipe, I will tell you how to cook medium-ground cereals (although you can cook other varieties in the same way).

Ingredients:

  • Medium-ground corn grits (hominy) - 2 cups (300 g)
  • Water - 5 glasses
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon (no slide)

1. Mamalyga should only be cooked in a cast-iron cauldron! Pour 5 glasses of water into it, put a teaspoon of salt (without a slide) and put water to boil.

2. Pour 2 cups of medium-sized cereals into a bowl.

3. Stir the porridge into the boiling water a little at a time, stirring it with a spoon. It will thicken instantly, this is normal. After pouring everything in, stir well again.

4. Cook porridge over low heat without covering for 30-35 minutes. During cooking, hominy must be stirred twice.

5. Remove the prepared porridge from the heat and let it cool, do not eat it right away! Next, it is better to do as follows: melt butter in a frying pan (do not regret it) and put the required portion on it to warm up. Porridge in a frying pan should be kneaded well with a tablespoon. Hot and mashed hominy can be served as a main course.

You can season the dish with feta cheese (preferably sheep) - grate on a medium grater on top.
