The origin of the breed, the standard of appearance and color of Bambino cats. The character of the animal and its health. Home care. Birth and raising of kittens. Bambino is a completely original, a little strange, uniquely comical and almost alien-looking cat, more reminiscent of a funny guttaparche toy - either a dachshund, or a kangaroo, or a funny fairy-tale character of some cartoon. She is so sweet, warm and affectionate that it is simply impossible to deny yourself the pleasure of stroking and caressing this creature.

The origin of the Bambino cat breed

The breed of hairless short-legged dwarf cat Bambino (Bambino, Dwarfcat) is very young. In fact, the first officially registered litter of kittens of the new breed appeared only quite recently - in 2005. After that, in 2006, the new breed received the status of an experimental breed of the International Cat Association (TICA).

And the story of this original cat began, as is often the case, with a simple incident. A couple from Arkansas (USA) Stephanie and Pat Osborne, who already had a small cattery of Canadian Sphynxes, bought an unusual hairless kitten with short legs as a pet, having absolutely no idea what kind of breed it was and from whom it was bred. The strange kitten got the name - Bambino (from Italian - "child"), which later gave the name to the whole breed. Having studied the genetics of an unusual cute creature, the couple found out that the kitten is a hybrid result of a random connection between a Canadian sphinx and a munchkin, successfully embodying a munchkin's short legs and a sphinx's hairlessness. The spouses began further selection under the guidance of professional geneticists, which eventually bore fruit, embodied in one of the rarest cat breeds - Bambino.

The nature of bambino cats

This breed has a very friendly, outgoing and playful personality. They play with pleasure with adult family members, with small children and love to chase the ball. This "child" should have enough toys, otherwise the interior of the house may suffer from his activity and curiosity.

Despite their short legs, in their nimbleness these animals resemble the ubiquitous dachshunds or martens, and just like these nimble animals, they are able to climb anywhere, although they are not able to overcome the tallest pieces of furniture. But jumping out in one jump onto the kitchen table or high chest of drawers is not a problem for these cats. The gait of the bambino, due to the structural features and the special muscularity of the paws, looks quite funny and resembles the gait of a dachshund. In a calm state or sunken on a person's lap, the animal can sit for a long time in a pose similar to that of a rabbit.

Bambino is easy to learn. The intelligence of these cats is very high (probably inherited from the smartest Sphynx cats). He quickly gets used to the daily routine of the owners, gets used to eating and toilet places. These cats are curious, intelligent, disciplined and not vindictive. They get along well with other pets, showing absolutely no aggression towards either birds or rodents. They quickly get used to new people and are able to easily get used to a new environment. Do not mind traveling or taking a ride in the car. They do not like loneliness and feel great in the campaign of people.

The content of these cute handsome men is almost exactly the same as any other kind of hairless cats - sphinxes.

To maintain the hygiene of the body of animals, systematic bathing of the cat (but not too frequent) is necessary with the use of a special shampoo and a water temperature within the range of 36-38 degrees Celsius. It is advisable to put a rubber mat on the bottom of the tub so that the bambino legs are more stable. It is better to wash off the shampoo with your palms, and not with the pressure of water from the shower, so the animal feels much calmer. After bathing, especially vulnerable areas can be wiped with moisturizing oil or baby cream.

If your cat is not too fond of swimming, you can get by with regular rubbing of her skin with a cotton swab dipped in a special lotion (in extreme cases, you can use lotion for baby skin).

It is necessary to carefully monitor the temperature balance of the bambino cat, preventing it from overheating in the sun and hypothermia in the winter. When the winter air temperature is below 20 degrees Celsius, it is necessary to insulate the pet by wearing a fur jumpsuit or a woolen blouse on it.

The diet of a short-legged pet must be compiled, given its hyperactive nature, which always gives an accelerated metabolism and the need for enhanced nutrition. Therefore, bambino nutrition should not only be more abundant, but also more nutritious. In addition to high-quality super-premium food for active cats, the diet should include lean fish, quality raw meat, dairy products, vegetables and even fruits.

Description of bambino kittens

Bambino cats easily tolerate pregnancy, giving birth to two to five kittens without any problems. The offspring are treated very carefully and attentively. There were cases that mother cats willingly adopted other people's kittens and even puppies.

Caring for kittens is no different from caring for Sphynx kittens. The only thing that is required of the owner is to provide a warm and dry "den", do not forget to feed the mother-cat in a timely manner and vaccinate little bambinos.
