The article provides information on growing a hippeastrum flower, care. How should it be planted, how should it be watered and fed? Answers to these questions will be given by the TutKnow.ru website in this article. At the end of winter, hippeastrum begins to bloom - one of the most spectacular indoor plants. Its tall peduncle is crowned with large red, pink or white flowers. Hippeastrum belongs to the amaryllis family. He came to us from the tropics and subtropics of America, so he feels good in the room, he rests only two months a year, and the rest of the time it blooms and grows leaves.

In winter, forcing bulbs can be purchased and planted. Choose ones that are at least 6 cm in diameter, dry, without damage or weeping scales, preferably with live roots. If there are a lot of scales on the bulb, remove the loose ones, but be sure to leave a few brown layers. Take the pot not too big - there should be 2-3 cm between the bulb and its walls, but high and stable, because the plant grows quite large. Place drainage on the bottom, for example, expanded clay. The soil is needed loose, nutritious (from humus, leafy earth and sand). You can take a ready-made special primer.

For the prevention of diseases, soak the bulbs in the preparation "Maxim" or another, and immerse the bulb completely for 30 minutes, and then dry it for at least a day. Plant hippeastrum so that half of the bulb is above the soil surface. Pour a small hill of soil under its bottom, and place the roots horizontally. It is better to put the plant on the western windowsill. Until the arrow reaches 10-15 cm, you need to sprinkle with warm water as little as possible so that it does not fall on the bulb, preferably from the pallet. Water stagnation should not be allowed. The air temperature is 22-24 degrees. The arrow will grow, and you will have to water more. When it reaches 15 cm, replenish with fertilizer, the ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium in which should be 4: 7: 9. You can feed it several times. Don't apply a lot of nitrogen fertilizer. Blooming flower should be hidden in the shade from direct sunlight. To prolong flowering, you need to lower the temperature to 18-20 degrees. Amaryllis are transplanted in early spring. Children are separated during transplantation.

The plant requires a lot of moisture during the period of leaf growth, but does not like waterlogging. Do not spray the leaves, rinse off the dust with a shower or wipe the leaves with a damp cloth. Adequate sunlight is needed to ripen the bulbs, so move it to a sunny windowsill. The optimum temperature is 20-22 degrees. Revive the hippeastrum with fertilizers with a ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium 7: 3: 6, and at the end of July - 4: 4: 12.

At the end of August, slowly reduce watering and then stop. Green leaves cannot be cut off. Cut off the stem when it is completely dry. After that, place the bulbs in a cool, less lit place for 1, 5-2 months.
