Herring is a rather fatty fish that lives in our seas. At the same time, despite its high fat content, there are not a lot of calories in it, only 220 kcal per 100 g of product, which is significantly less than the calorie content of pork and beef. It also contains healthy omega-3 fats. They inhibit the aging process of the body and slow down the development of cardiovascular diseases. Eating this seafood 3 times a week can significantly reduce the chances of stroke and heart attack. An example of this is that the Norwegians and Swedes living on the edges of the coast have a low mortality rate from these diseases, because they have the opportunity to consume herring regularly.
And perhaps many consider herring to be a rather specific product, but it goes well with many products, which is why many nutritious and easy salad recipes have been invented with it. And today I want to tell you about one of them, where fish is combined with eggs and green onions. This meal is light and hearty at the same time, and is prepared from available products. The taste of the salad will depend on the herring you choose. It can be salted, lightly salted or spiced. You can choose any that suits your taste the most.

Cooking herring salad
1. Wash green onions under running water and chop finely. Place it in a deep salad bowl.
2. Remove the film from the herring, cut off the head and tail, and also remove the fins. Slit the belly and remove the entrails. If caviar is available, you can add it to the salad. Cut along the ridge and divide the fish into two fillets. Take out the backbone and any small bones. After that, rinse the fish and wipe it dry with a paper towel. Cut the fillets into cubes and place in a salad bowl with the onions.
If the herring is too salty, soak it in milk or ordinary drinking water for 10-15 minutes. At the same time, taste it all the time so that it does not become bland.
3. Peel the onions, wash, wipe dry with a napkin and finely chop a quarter into rings. If you wish, you can pre-marinate it in table vinegar.
4. Dip the eggs into a container in cold water and boil until steep for 8-10 minutes. Then transfer to a container with ice water and leave to cool completely. Then remove the shells and cut them into cubes. Send to container with all products.
5. Pour mayonnaise on the food.
6. Stir the salad and taste it. Season with salt if necessary. However, if the herring is too salty, you may not need additional salt.
7. Chill the salad in the refrigerator before serving and serve on a wide plate or in portioned glass glasses.
