Ingredients:
- Wheat flour - 2 tbsp.
- Egg yolks - 3 pcs.
- Margarine - 200 g
- Granulated sugar - 8 tablespoons (5 tablespoons for the dough, 3 tablespoons for the filling)
- Vanilla sugar - 1 sachet
- Baking soda - 0.5 tsp
- Salt - 1 pinch
- Egg whites - 3 pcs.
- Sweet and sour apples - 3 pcs.
Step by step preparation of grated apple pie
1. We take out the margarine in advance so that it becomes soft, or we heat it in the microwave or in a water bath. Combine margarine with sugar and yolks in a deep bowl. Using a fork, whisk, mixer or blender, bring the mass until smooth.
2. Then we sift the flour through a sieve to enrich it with oxygen and give it a crumbly texture. Add to the egg-margarine mixture. We also add soda and salt.
3. Knead the dough thoroughly to break up all the lumps. The resulting homogeneous mass is quite soft and plastic. We divide it into 2 parts: one should be slightly larger than the other. We send it to the refrigerator.
4. Wash apples, peel and three on a coarse grater. If the fruits are too juicy, then you can squeeze slightly. Sprinkle with sugar and mix well. If you do this in advance, then you need to sprinkle a little lemon juice so that the pulp does not turn brown.
5. Separately, beat the egg whites with a mixer until the mass increases in size, and after turning it off, it will hold well on the tips of the attachments. Next, gently mix the whipped egg white with the apples.
6. Take out a larger piece of dough from the refrigerator and spread it over the bottom of the baking dish. We try to compact it to get an even layer. You can do it with your hands or use a mashed potato crush.
7. Put the finished filling on top - the apple-protein mass.
8. Rub the smaller piece of dough on a coarse grater and cover the entire surface of the future pie with it.
9. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. We put the form on and bake for about 30 minutes. During this time, the dough comes to readiness. The filling also bakes well. And on top, the dough crumb takes on a golden color.
