Gas heating of a bath compares favorably with other types. For example, if you compare it with electric heating, then the advantages are clearly on the gas side. Firstly, electricity is quite an expensive pleasure, and with heating a bath, its consumption will increase significantly, especially if your bath is 200 square meters or more. Secondly, if it is turned off, the bath will stop heating, the water will have to be drained, otherwise everything will freeze, and there is a risk of spoiling the equipment that is in the unheated bath. Gas is much cheaper than electricity, and if there is a gas main, the heating is stable. Considering that in order to install a gas heating system for a bath, you need to create a separate room for the boiler room, as well as lay a highway and make wiring, this is a rather laborious event. But if the project of gas heating of the bath is drawn up correctly, then all your costs will be compensated by the fact that the gas heating system is economical to use.

In addition, you can simplify the task if your house is heated with gas, and the bathhouse is located nearby. Then you can run a heating main and heat the bath from the heating system of the house. This will save finances.

An important point - the boiler room must have a good ventilation system, a steam outlet and a small window, and the humidity should not exceed 65%. This is for security purposes.

We strongly do not recommend doing a gas boiler yourself. Gas is an unsafe substance, and it is better that a professional be engaged in the manufacture of a gas boiler, as well as its installation. One of the clear advantages of a gas boiler is its size: the boiler weighs only 30 to 50 kg, it is very compact, and its power is usually 40 kW. Gas boilers are mainly divided into three types, it depends on the heat exchanger. Before choosing one of them, you need to think about what exactly will be heated from the gas boiler.

There are the following types of gas boilers:

  1. Single-circuit … They can only heat the room.
  2. Double-circuit … This boiler can heat a bath and heat water.
  3. Three-circuit … Multifunctional devices that, among other things, can heat the water in the pool and heat the floor.

Gas stove in the bath

In baths with a supplied gas main, the use of a gas oven has become popular. It has practically supplanted wood heating in a bathhouse. Due to the fact that the gas stove has absolutely no waste after combustion, neither the chimney nor the heating box is clogged with debris, it does not need special care.

The design of a gas oven for a bath

A gas stove can be domestic, heating and heating. For a bath, a brick heating furnace with an atmospheric burner is usually used. As a rule, a brick oven heats up longer than a metal oven, but it retains heat for a long time, while a metal one cools down quickly. Sometimes, preference is given to a metal gas oven due to the fact that it looks more compact than a brick or stone oven. In such cases, it is faced with bricks.

The gas burner can be inflatable or atmospheric. Electricity is used to operate the inflatable burner, which is not very economical. An atmospheric burner is the most economical, because it works thanks to the air entering the blower. The opening for the burner should have the following dimensions: width - 350–450 mm, height - 470–550 mm in height.

The principle of operation of a gas oven for a bath

The gas oven provides for the presence of a thermostat, a gas chamber, a chimney and a system for automatically cutting off the fuel supply in case of damping. The principle of operation of a gas oven is based on mixing air and gas, which you can independently regulate using the door through which the burner is cleaned.

It is important to know that natural gas has less heat transfer than propane. A gas cylinder of five cubic meters, which is located in a specially designed container, can heat an area of up to 200 sq. M during the heating season.

Gas oven foundation

Before making a gas oven with your own hands, you need to create a foundation.

We build the foundation of a gas oven for a bath in the following sequence:

  • We dig a foundation pit 70 cm deep, considering that the bottom of the pit should be slightly wider than the base.
  • At the bottom of the pit we pour sand 15 cm thick, fill it with water and wait until the water is absorbed.
  • After the water has been absorbed, we fill in pieces of brick and stone about 20 cm thick.
  • We fill it all with rubble.
  • We make the formwork and create a reinforced frame.
  • We fill it with concrete and wait until it grasps a little, then remove the formwork.
  • We cover the surface in several layers with tar.
  • We cover the place where the formwork was with a mixture of sand and fine gravel.
  • We put in moisture insulation - and the foundation is ready for the construction of a gas oven.

The stove should be located so that it can heat not only the steam room, but also the rest room. The procedure for making a gas oven for a bath looks like this:

  1. We prepare a solution of sand and clay in a 1: 1 ratio. We mix it all with water until a homogeneous mass without lumps is formed.
  2. Soak the brick in water for 10 minutes before laying.
  3. We put the first layer of brick on the bitumen, which we previously placed on the foundation. After laying the first row of brick on the mortar, let it rest for a couple of minutes.
  4. We lay the second and subsequent rows so that each brick lies on the joint between the two bricks of the previous row. Make sure the seams are no more than 5 mm thick.
  5. In the process of laying the third row, you can make a door for the blower. Use strips of steel or galvanized wire to secure the door.
  6. In the fourth row, create a one centimeter hole for ash.
  7. In the sixth row, we finish with the installation of the blower, and in the seventh row we install the door for the firebox and grate.
  8. Eighth row - we make a partition for the chimney and continue to lay bricks until the channels are placed in the 14th row.
  9. We install a water tank on the channels so that it is located on the front wall, and the side walls support it vertically.
  10. The fifteenth row is the basis for a split wall, so we put it in half a brick. We also put the next three rows.
  11. We put the door for releasing steam in the nineteenth row.
  12. Place strips of steel between rows 20 and 21, then place a hot water tank.
  13. The chimney is installed starting from the 23rd row. Remember that the pipe should rise half a meter above the roof, and the thickness of the pipe itself should be half a brick.

When the work with the stove masonry is finished, we turn to the plaster. We clean the walls of the furnace from excess mortar and plaster with a mixture of sand, clay, gypsum and alabaster.

When using a gas oven, follow these rules:

  • We recommend to bury a bottle of liquefied gas on the street near the bath.
  • Be sure to install an automation system that will regulate the fuel supply and when to turn it off.
  • After the oven is ready, let it dry for at least two weeks, and after the first kindling, do not immediately bring it to high temperatures.
  • Make sure that the refractory base under the stove extends 100 mm beyond the borders of the stove.
  • The gas pipeline to the stove must be made of steel or copper.
