- Electric oven
Electric heating of a bath is environmentally friendly, easy, convenient, economical. This option is becoming more common every year. When installing it, it is important to decide on the type of heating equipment and observe all safety measures.
Bath electric heating systems
There are several types of heating with electricity:
- Boiler … Modern models are equipped with water pressure sensors, valves, filters. Therefore, their use is convenient with an uninterrupted supply of energy. The most popular on the market are electric boilers for heating a bath from the Czech manufacturer Dakon and the Slovak company Protherm. Among the disadvantages of this type of heating, one can single out the relative high cost and the need for approval of the installation project in the relevant authorities. In most cases, boilers require a three-phase connection.
- Convector … You can install it yourself. However, it assumes compliance with mandatory fire safety standards. This option is convenient for the ability to constantly maintain the optimal temperature using the "anti-freeze mode". In this case, the bath room will not get damp or freeze.
- Warm floor … This heating system can be purchased in the form of roll material, in which thermal paths are installed in parallel. Also, its installation is easy to do with your own hands. At the same time, it cannot be called economical. Energy consumption is quite high. It is necessary to mount the system even during the construction of a bath or its overhaul.
- Electric heater … Convenient option for electric heating of the sauna stove. It is a cage with stones, which is heated by heating elements. It is easy to install and convenient to operate.
The installation of each of the above types of heating has its own nuances. To connect the boiler, you need to approve the project and obtain the necessary permits. To install it, it is important to follow the instructions and pay attention to the insulation of the electrical units in the steam room. Otherwise, high humidity will lead to electric shock. When installing the convector, use a powerfully insulated cable and lay it in non-combustible ducts. At the same time, it must be connected to a separate machine on the dashboard.
Electric heating of a bath with a "warm floor"
A ready-made electrical system "Warm floor" in a bath can be purchased at a hardware store, or you can do it yourself. For this you will need:
- Cement (170 rubles per bag);
- Sand (from 300 rubles per cubic meter);
- Waterproofing mastic (from 49 rubles per kilogram);
- Insulation: extruded polystyrene foam (from 120 rubles per square meter) or mineral wool mats (from 150 rubles per roll);
- Heating cable (from 350 rubles per meter).
We carry out installation work in the following sequence:
- We prepare a sand-cement mortar and make a floor screed.
- We lay a layer of waterproofing mastic.
- We reapply the solution.
- We make thermal insulation.
- We distribute a heating mat or cable on top of the insulation layer.
- We connect to the power supply.
- Re-screed concrete.
- We install the floor covering.
Installation of an electric stone stove in a bath
An electric stone stove is considered one of the most popular options for arranging heating a bath. It is quite possible to assemble an electric heater with your own hands. For this you will need:
- Brick (from 27 rubles apiece);
- Heating elements (from 200 rubles);
- Steel sheet 3 mm thick (from 25 rubles);
- Stones;
- Heater (about 2 thousand rubles);
- Conductive bus (from 140 rubles);
- Nichrome wire (from 800 rubles per kilogram);
- Thermostat (about 2 thousand rubles).
During installation, you must clearly adhere to the instructions and proceed in stages:
- We draw up a drawing of the furnace. We calculate its dimensions, location, and the required heating power. Usually the main area is occupied by a cage with stones.
- We spread a pedestal under the oven.
- We calculate the number of heating elements, fix them on the frame and connect them with jumpers.
- We use 3 mm steel sheet as a basis. We attach the rest of the parts to it with bolts or by welding. For a closed heater, we also install a heater, a bus bar and a heat shield. The open design assumes the use of nichrome wire. In this case, we mount the heating coil in a ceramic base.
- As tightly as possible, without gaps, we lay the stones on the finished frame.
- We make a protective cover. For this, you can use a sheet of steel. As additional protection, we install a wall made of ordinary or refractory bricks.
- We mount the thermostat. It is necessary to control the temperature of the stones. For convenience, we place it in the steam room. A drum or rotary switch is best used as a control.
- We make the grounding of the structure.
- We connect the oven to the power supply. A single-phase network (220V) generates a power of 3 kW. This is enough for a small bath. Otherwise, 12 kW of power is required. A three-phase network can provide it.
- Checking the resistance level. It should be less than 3-5 ohms.
Such an oven, as in the video, is compact, practical and functional:
Combined types of electric heating are often used in baths. It is easy and convenient to operate any of them. And you can install such heating yourself.
