Caprese salad, thanks to the special combination of green or purple basil, red tomatoes and white mozzarella, looks very nice on the festive table. And various additives and spices - improvisation, which gives the caprese a special and unique taste.

Cooking Caprese is quite simple. There are no complicated techniques, exotic ingredients and long heat treatments in the recipe. In the classic version, it is recommended to use mozzarella only from buffalo milk. Although recently, even in Italy, they began to use the more affordable mozzarella made from cow's milk. The size of the cheese balls is not important in principle. This will only affect the way the product is cut. The main thing is that the mozzarella is fresh.

Tomatoes for starters are a subject of controversy. Some people think that the best variety is “bull heart”, pink in color. Others are sure that only cherry tomatoes are suitable, but in our country they use red oblong tomatoes "Cream". It is advisable to use green or purple basil with small leaves and directly from the garden. Dressing - olive oil, must be the best, first cold pressed. The taste of Caprese depends on it.

Tip: the size of the tomatoes and the mazzarella ball should preferably be of the same size so that the appetizer looks beautiful.
