Bruschetta is an easy-to-prepare Mediterranean delight that can be a nutritious appetizer or main course. This is a typical Neapolitan dish, which is a slice of bread (mostly hard grain) grated with garlic fried (grilled, wire rack or skillet without oil). On top, lay out any filling to taste, the variations of which can be many. Today we will cook a traditional Italian dish - bruschetta Caprese, based on the Caprese salad (Insalata Caprese). Bruschetta and Caprese are world symbols of Mediterranean cuisine, simple yet elegant to prepare. In the traditional version, the appetizer is prepared with slices of mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, basil and all this is poured with extra virgin olive oil.
Despite the fact that only three simple components conquered the world with their harmony, Caprese is varied at home. For example, mozzarella can be replaced with any kind of white cheese, cherry tomatoes with cream tomatoes, and olive oil with vegetable or other types. Ciabatta bread is ideal for making bruschetta. But you can take any other variety, the main thing is that it is dense, from coarse flour. Although a baguette, a regular loaf, etc. will do. Of course, the taste of such a Caprese bruschetta will be slightly different, but the appetizer will still be incredibly tasty. A snack platter is served in front of the main courses to “whet your appetite”.

- Bread - 1 slice
- Garlic - 0.5 cloves
- Mozzarella - 3 rings
- Salt - a pinch
- Olive oil - 1 tsp
- Tomatoes - 3 rings
- Basil - 1 sprig
Step by step preparation of bruschetta caprice, recipe with photo:
1. Cut the bread into 1–2 cm slices. The thicker the bread is sliced, the more Italian bruschetta will look. Dry the bread on both sides in a hot and dry non-stick skillet or on the grill in the oven. It is important that the middle of the bread remains soft and the edges are browned. Then rub the dried piece of bread with a clove of garlic.
2. Brush the bread with olive oil.
3. Wash the tomatoes, cut into 0.5 mm rings and place on the bread.
4. Cut the mozzarella into thin rings and place between the tomato slices.
5. Season food with salt and garnish with a sprig of basil. Serve ready-made bruschetta Caprice to the table immediately after cooking, since it is not customary to cook it for the future.
Note: you can also prepare bruschetta Caprice in another way: cut the tomatoes with mozzarella into cubes, chop the basil leaves, season with salt, season with oil, mix and put the filling on toasted pieces of bread.
