It's nice when the house is filled with delightful smells of natural fragrances. Make these with flour, baking soda, starch, sticks, and other interesting materials. It's great when comfort, harmony reigns in the house, a pleasant smell hovers. The industry offers fragrant sprays, but they are chemical in nature and can harm not only allergy sufferers, but also healthy people. Therefore, it is better to fill the apartment with pleasant smells that have a natural basis.
Dry herb for fragrance
Sachet (accent on the last syllable) is translated from French as "bag", "small bag". Such small pillows are filled with dry fragrant herbs, impregnated with essential oils, decorated with lace, embroidery or beads and hung in the room or in the wardrobe. A sachet with a delicate, soothing scent of lemon balm or lavender is placed under the pillow, this scent will contribute to a good rest.
Of course, you can buy sachets, but often the filler in industrial bags is artificial, and as we found out earlier, it is better to use natural. Here's what you need to make an aroma oil:
- natural, not very dense fabric;
- dry herbs or petals;
- essential oil;
- decoration elements (braid, lace).
We start to make this air freshener by sewing a fabric base. It can be of various shapes, in the form:
- geometric shapes;
- pouch;
- heart, etc.
Lovers of strict shapes can sew a cushion for a rectangular sachet. Usually its size is no more than 12x13 cm. If you want to make it in the form of a round bag, then cut a circle out of the fabric, put dry grass inside, wrap the edges, tie it with flying or braid. For a rectangular pad, you need to sew a bag of this shape, and then put a natural filler inside.
But this sachet will be a wonderful gift for a loved one. These bags can be created even without a sewing machine. Cut 2 hearts out of knitted fabric, place a ribbon folded 2 times inside to hang the finished work with it. Fold the workpieces with the wrong sides to each other, sew along the edge with a needle and thread. Leave a small gap. Through it, fill the bag with aromatic herbs, sew up the hole.
The following plants are great for such an air flavoring agent:
- mint;
- geranium;
- lavender;
- sagebrush;
- Carnation;
- tarragon;
- the Rose;
- acacia flowers;
- jasmine.
You can add spices to fragrant plants, but they should only be used in small quantities, as they have a strong, intense smell. As such a fragrance is used: vanilla, cinnamon, anise, dry orange and lemon zest, sweet peas. Typically, such sachets are stored for no more than 3-4 months, since then they lose their aroma. To preserve it for a longer time will help impregnation from carbonate magnesia or pounded iris root with concentrated resin. You can add a few drops of essential oil here.
This powder is left in a sealed container for several days. During this time, dry herbs are impregnated with oils, resins, after which they are poured into bags. It is imperative to leave the filler to infuse, then it will not release moisture, and greasy spots will not appear on the fabric of the bag.
To preserve the smell, you can use artificial or natural musk, you need to grind it with fine quartz sand or pumice powder.
Master class on making natural flavors
Let the smell of citrus, vanilla, cinnamon hover in the house. Fans of coniferous aromas can be advised to use spruce branches, rosemary.
The following are recipes for several natural flavors. Choose the one you like best and start making incense.
Fragrance number 1. It consists of:
- ginger;
- orange;
- almonds.
Here's how to do it. Chop the orange into circles and put in a jar. Almonds do not give a rich smell, so they are replaced with almond essence. Ginger can be used fresh or powdered. In the first case, it is cut into circles.
Fragrance number 2. This composition includes:
- lime;
- mint;
- thyme;
- vanilla extract.
We prepare these natural flavors as follows. Cut the lime into slices, add a few drops of vanilla, 2 sprigs of thyme and mint.
If you don't have fresh thyme, add a pinch of dry thyme together. You can find a bag of this dried and crushed herb in the store where the spices are sold. Smell No. 3. Includes:
- lemon;
- vanilla;
- rosemary.
Here's how to make a flavoring agent out of this with your own hands: chop the lemon into slices or cut into circles. Put the crushed citrus in a jar, add 2 drops of vanilla extract and 3-4 branches of rosemary there.
Fragrance # 4 you will make from:
- orange;
- carnations;
- cinnamon;
- anise.
To the orange cut into circles and folded in a jar, add 8-10 cloves, a few stars of anise and cinnamon sticks. The ratio of these products depends on your preference.
Now common to all these scents. To make them open in full force, the prepared ingredients are poured with warm water. After a while, it will cool down. When you want to enjoy these smells again, you need to heat the liquid to a warm state. To do this, you can place the container on the battery or drain the liquid, heat it, and then return it to the jar.
Fragrance number 5. Lovers of coniferous smells will like it, as it contains needles. In addition to her, there is also a bay leaf and nutmeg. This smell is obtained in a slightly different way. First you need to break the spruce branches so that they can exude their scent. Then they are put in a jar, bay leaf and whole nut kernels are added, as well as chopped on a grater. All this is not poured with water, the smell will be delightful anyway.
How to make a car flavor?
It is much more pleasant to ride in your favorite "swallow" if a natural, and not artificial, fragrance soars in the cabin.
Such a flavoring agent in the car is very simple. Think about which figurine do you like the most? A traditional Christmas tree or maybe a butterfly, an elephant, a car? Enlarge the picture to the desired size and print.
Here's what you need to make a car fragrance:
- a piece of felt;
- coarse thread or thin ribbon;
- awl;
- essential oil.
Attach the cut stencil to the felt, cut it out. Make a hole at the top of the figure, thread a ribbon or thread here, tie. This loop is used to hang the fragrance.
Apply a couple of drops of essential oil to the workpiece and enjoy. Within a few days, it will saturate the fabric, and the smell will become more persistent.
If you are making multiple car fragrances, apply a different essential oil to each. Do not mix them, otherwise the smell may not be what you would like.
Car air fresheners can be made a little differently. Here's what you'll need for the following:
- food gelatin - 1 sachet;
- water;
- glycerin - 1 tsp;
- essential oil.
Dilute gelatin with water according to the instructions. For a thicker consistency, you can add only half the norm of water. When 40-60 minutes have passed, the gelatin swells, add glycerin to it, mix.
Take small containers. Boxes made from similar purchased flavors are perfect. Only they must first be washed and ventilated very well so that that smell disappears. After you put the mass into molds, add 5-6 drops of essential oil to each one.
Now your car will smell amazingly with natural aromas, which will make it even more pleasant to be here.
Create a scent stone yourself
These scented home furnishings are a fashion trend. You will be surprised when you find out what such a scent stone is made of; to make it you will need the following:
- corn or potato starch - 5 tbsp. l.;
- flour - 3 cups;
- salt - 800 g;
- 200-220 ml boiling water;
- artificial or food colors;
- essential oils;
- molds-templates for cutting out cookies.
First, combine the dry ingredients in a separate bowl: flour, starch and salt. Dissolve the dye in water. Add dry ingredients to the liquid, knead the dough. Depending on the quality of the flour and starch, you may need a certain amount of water.
After you knead the dough well, roll it into a layer, cut out the figures with molds. You can do without these stencils. Then you simply mold aroma stones from the dough. To make them just like that, sprinkle each piece with a small amount of essential oil. Let them dry. Now you can lay out such beautiful interior items in rooms separately or place them in a wicker basket or in a shallow bowl, several pieces each and put them in a prominent place.
The fragrance will diminish over time, but you can regain it if you periodically drip essential oil onto the aroma stones.
How to make a spray and liquid incense?
This fragrance option is suitable for those who like to scent the air with a spray bottle.
For it, you can buy empty cans or use those in which there was already a fragrant liquid. In order for the air around you to smell sweet, you will need the following items and components:
- glass spray bottle (in extreme cases, you can take a plastic one);
- alcohol - 1 tbsp. l.;
- water -125 ml;
- essential oils.
Fill the bottle with water until it takes up 3/4 of its volume. Add essential oils, alcohol, shake well to mix the components.
Other liquid flavors are also stored in small bottles. But they exude the smell without the help of a spray. The solution prepared according to the following recipe is poured into them. Then you need to take the cork from the wine, cut it in half across. In the center of one of the halves, a hole is made with an awl, a lace is inserted into it. Now you need to plug the neck of the bottle with a cork so that one side of the lace is in this container, and the other is out. The aromatic liquid will gradually ascend along this string, delivering a pleasant scent to the top.
Here is the recipe for such a liquid flavor and the materials needed:
- vegetable oil - 300 ml.;
- essential oil - 40-50 drops;
- cork stopper;
- small bottles;
- decorative lace.
DIY incense sticks
They look simple and mysterious in glass vases at the same time. Another excellent quality of them is that aroma sticks give a charming scent. To become the owners of this miracle, you need to have at hand:
- a bottle with a narrow neck or glass vase;
- wooden sticks (kebab skewers are perfect);
- alcohol or vodka;
- odorless cosmetic or vegetable oil;
- essential oil.
We start making incense sticks by pouring odorless oil into the container. Add 2 tsp to it. alcohol and 20-30 drops of essential oil. The mixture must be shaken so that all the ingredients are well mixed. Now put the sticks in the container, arrange them nicely. After a while, turn each soaked tip upside down to help the smell spread throughout the room.
Soda for flavorings
This substance is also well suited to retain pleasant odors. It will help create natural flavors. We will put it in small glass jars. Typically, these remain after the product in them is eaten. You will need to wash the container well and you can give it a second life.
First, pour 1 cm of baking soda into the jars. Now add 7-12 drops of your favorite essential oil to each jar. Close them with lids, shake. Then you need to make holes in the lids so that the aromas can penetrate outside. This is done with a hammer and nail. You can use foil instead of lids, in which it is even easier to make holes.
These bottles with multi-colored salt also look beautiful.
Pour it into transparent containers, alternating light with a darker tone. Put a drop of essential oil on salt, place a small candle on top, be sure to fix it so that it does not tilt and fall. The flame will heat the candlestick, the salt, and with it the essential oil, which will spread a delightful aroma.
Here are how many ways there are to help saturate the air with fragrant odors. If you want to have natural flavors at home that are also suitable for food, then plant a bush of mint, lemon balm and enjoy not only the beautiful view of the plants, the way they smell, but also use the leaves for brewing tea, desserts, salads.
