Before proceeding directly to the fixing of the plinth, it is necessary to calculate the amount required to decorate the room. For an accurate calculation, measure the perimeter of the room minus the length of the door opening. The resulting value must be divided by the length of one solid bar. The final calculated result will help determine the number of PVC skirting boards required for installation. But professional craftsmen recommend making a small quantitative stock, at least another half meter.
The number of corner elements, respectively, will be equal to the number of corners in the room, while the number of plugs is equal to the number of doorways doubled. Fasteners are calculated according to the following algorithm: room perimeter / 50 cm.
Accessories for the plinth As for the necessary set of tools, its "composition" is quite common. You will need a screwdriver, a hacksaw for metal, a good awl, tape measure, pencil, drill, puncher and construction corner. The "Tool List" depends on the choice of the method of fixing the skirting board. There are three main methods for attaching a plastic skirting board.
- Fastening with liquid nails (glue). This installation option is used only in rooms with even corners, otherwise there is a possibility that the skirting board will simply disappear. Otherwise, preliminary alignment of the corner geometry should be carried out. Editing starts from one corner of your choice. The adhesive is applied either to the plank itself or to the wall in a dotted manner at a distance of 3 × 5 cm. After gluing the first plinth plank, a connecting element is mounted to its free edge, and then, respectively, the next plank.
- Installation with construction clips. When choosing this method of work, the result is a very high-quality mounted plinth strips. But this method of fastening belongs to the category of the most laborious and expensive in terms of monetary costs. But on the other hand, this type of installation can be used in almost any premises for the intended purpose, and without paying absolutely any attention to the geometry of the walls. At the first stage of work, the clips are attached to the wall with self-tapping screws at a certain fixed distance. Then the skirting board itself is directly put on the mounted clips. Then you should lightly press the bar until it clicks. The first skirting board is installed. After that, the connecting element is fixed, and then all subsequent strips are installed in the same way.
- Fastening "through and through". In this version, the skirting board is simply attached to the wall with screws. To decorate the screw caps, you can use special plugs matched to the color of the PVC skirting board.
