An old barrel turns into: a dog kennel or a couch, a minibar, an armchair, a stool, a pouf. From this container, you can make pieces of furniture for home and summer cottages. If you have such a container or even a few copies left, you can turn it all: into a coffee table, into an original sink, and even into a dog kennel. But these are far from all the ideas that the old barrel will give.
How to make a kennel, a bed for dogs from a barrel?
Kennel
Sometimes old wooden barrels are thrown out by shopkeepers. After all, such a container eventually becomes unsuitable for storing cucumbers, sauerkraut. If you find such a trophy, then a kennel for a dog will cost almost nothing. You can buy an old barrel inexpensively and also save great money.
- But it must be washed well inside and out, letting it dry completely for several days. So that there are no drafts in the dog's house, if the boards are parted, connect them.
- If the gaps are small, you can put the open barrel in the pond by placing stones inside. The tree will get wet within 3-5, fill the cracks.
- The dried container must be covered with an antiseptic and dried again. And if the barrel is in poor condition, first sand its surface with sandpaper. Now a hole is cut on one side so that the dog can pass freely. Based on your preference, make it round, rectangular, or arched.

- To make it easier for your dog to reach, cut the cutout at the front of the bed slightly larger than the rest of the area. Treat the cut surface so that there are no sharp parts and splinters. This cutout can be straight or rounded.
- If the dog is large, then cut the barrel lengthwise, not across. To fix the edges, nail a plank horizontally on one side and the other. Unlike the first option, such a bed for a dog is unstable. - This mattress has soft edges. The dog will be located in the center of the bed and will not touch the sides of the barrel. To do this, you can start creating a mattress, as in the version just described, but stitch the inner circle, leaving part of it not sewn up. Insert filler here, sew up the hole. Now fill in the outer ring using more filler and sew up the hole.
Do-it-yourself coffee table from an old barrel
It can also be created by placing it on the bottom or by sawing it in half. One old barrel will turn into two identical tables. Pound curly legs from the boards to fix the workpiece. Put a wooden tabletop on top, fix it with self-tapping screws. To achieve a consistent look, paint the wooden parts of the table the same color.
