Paraffin therapy is not only a pleasant nurturing cosmetic procedure for hands and nails, but also a complete treatment, during which molten paraffin is applied. Various essential oils, salts, minerals and vitamins can be added to its composition.
What is paraffin therapy?
Paraffin therapy is a special heat compress, during which straightened paraffin is used (in simple words, this is a paraffin mask for hands). The fact is that this material became famous due to its high heat capacity. At just 53 degrees, paraffin becomes a viscous mass that is easily and quickly applied to the skin, without causing any unpleasant or painful sensations at all.
Many are afraid of getting burned and simply refuse such a useful procedure. But all fears are in vain, since under a layer of melted paraffin the skin heats up by only a couple of degrees. It has a pleasant and uniform warming effect. Thanks to this procedure, there is an effective healing and rejuvenation of the skin. The composition of the paraffin, which is used, includes unique additives that have an antiseptic and softening effect.
Such paraffin can also be used to rejuvenate not only the skin of the hands, but also for application on other parts of the body - thighs, legs, stomach, face. Almost after the first paraffin therapy procedure, a positive result will be noticeable, which will remain for about one week, depending on what kind of work the girl does every day. Therefore, it is recommended to carry out such a pleasant procedure at least once every seven days. It is advisable to do it before the manicure is done, since paraffin helps to strengthen the nail plate.
How to do paraffin therapy at home?
During this procedure, the use of old candles is strictly prohibited, since a special cosmetic composition is used for this purpose, which can be purchased at any pharmacy or store specializing in the sale of everything necessary for a manicure. 1 kg of cosmetic paraffin costs about 300 rubles.
In the photo on the left hand and nail cream for paraffin therapy, the price is 5-7 dollars. On the right is a Beurer MPE70 paraffin bath, price $ 65 or 3600 rubles For a home procedure, you can get a special electric bath that quickly heats the wax to the required temperature. However, this is not an obligatory element, because you can also warm up the wax with a simple water bath. Home paraffin therapy is carried out according to the following scheme:
- Place a pot full of water on the fire and place an enamel bowl on top.
- As soon as the water in the saucepan begins to boil intensively, put cosmetic paraffin (at least 2 kg) in a bowl and leave for a while. The wax should completely melt and become a liquid consistency.
- A thin layer of any protective cream should be applied to the skin of the hands to avoid scalding.
- Place your hands in a container with liquid paraffin and leave for a couple of seconds, then raise. The paraffin will gradually cool down and a thin translucent film will form on the palms.
- You need to do at least 4 such dives - gradually the film on your hands will become thicker and thicker.
- Once the paraffin is a little dry, put on plastic gloves on top, then woolen gloves to create a thermal effect.
- To obtain the maximum result after such a cosmetic procedure, the handles should be kept warm for at least half an hour.
- After the specified time, you can take off the gloves, and the paraffin film is very easily separated from the skin and this process does not cause unpleasant sensations.
- At the end of the procedure, apply a little of any nourishing cream to the skin.
Paraffin therapy can be carried out not only for the hands, but also for the face and legs. However, in this case, you need to apply paraffin using a special brush. As soon as the wax becomes liquid, you need to quickly apply it with a brush to all problem areas, and as soon as it dries, apply a new layer. If paraffin therapy is done for the legs, then put on warm socks, and if for the face, apply a simple cling film and cover your head with a towel on top. To make paraffin therapy not only beneficial, but also a pleasant procedure, add a few drops of your favorite aromatic oil to the melted wax (it is advisable to use coniferous or citrus oil).
What are the benefits of paraffin therapy for the skin?
Paraffin therapy is not in vain considered one of the most useful procedures, since it:
- Quickly removes swelling, perfectly cleanses enlarged pores and makes them less visible.
- The natural process of micro-stimulation of the skin is enhanced, due to which the aging process is significantly slowed down.
- It activates blood circulation and normalizes the process of lymph outflow, as a result of which not only the skin receives the necessary nutrition, but also the process of removing toxins is accelerated several times.
- If essential oils are added to paraffin, such a composition perfectly heals damaged skin, strengthens nails, tones the whole body and contributes to a significant improvement in well-being.
- Not only superficial, but also deeper layers of the skin are perfectly moisturized.
- Under paraffin, the formation of the so-called "greenhouse effect" occurs, as a result of which the composition of the extracellular fluid contained in the skin changes.
- Strengthening and nourishing the nail plate is carried out quickly and gently.
- You can carry out this procedure several times a week without fear of harming your nails or skin of your hands.
- Gradually cooling down, the paraffin begins to shrink, due to which an excellent lifting effect will be provided, which performs a rejuvenating effect on the skin. As a result, literally after the first procedure, fine wrinkles become less noticeable, the skin becomes fresher and more elastic.
- The muscle tone of the hands is perfectly restored, due to which fatigue disappears and pain disappears.
