Options for unusual fences for a summer residence made of bamboo, planken, block house, Cossack mesh, aluminum, brief installation instructions. The sequence of operations for the construction of a transparent fence:

  • Spread the stems on the ground so that they create a trellis with which all elements intersect at right angles. For example, it can be assembled from 12 contours and 30 verticals. Collect small-diameter trunks in bunches of 4-5 pcs. and temporarily link.
  • Connect the intersection points of the elements with clamps during the formation of the section.
  • After assembling the panels, replace the clamps with skilful knots crosswise using a synthetic cord. Use a crochet hook to speed up the process.
  • Fix the finished sections to the supports dug into the ground in advance.

To make the fence last a long time, cover it with a protective material. The most popular is wax. Do not use paint and other varnish-and-paint agents, they will spoil the appearance of the product. To change the color of the fence, you can apply carbonation, in which the stems are sprayed with hot steam. During the procedure, the color of the material changes naturally.

Use a jigsaw to cut the grooves. Set it up for low rpm. Drill a hole in the bamboo for the tool blade. Use a Forstner drill and hammer drill to prevent the material from delaminating. Do not make the grooves along the entire length of the stem, only at the junctions with the mating elements, with a small margin for adjusting them. When cutting the barrel, dip the blade from the side with the tool set to low speed.

Planken fence

Planken is a popular façade material in the form of a plank with beveled edges. Usually it is made from larch, which has outstanding performance characteristics: it does not rot, does not shrink, retains its original appearance for a long time, and is highly moisture resistant.

Planken is produced in two types - straight and beveled. The installation technology depends on its configuration. Beveled in section has the form of a parallelogram. This shape allows you to eliminate gaps between adjacent elements and prevents the accumulation of moisture in the joints. Direct installed with a small gap between each other, which provides ventilation of the area.

The material is mounted in two ways - in a thorn and an overlap. In the first case, the boards form a flat surface, but in case of repair, you will have to disassemble the entire fence. In the second, it is possible to adjust the position of the elements.

The installation of a planken fence is carried out according to the following scheme: install the supports, assemble the frame to which the boards will be attached, fill the openings between the supports with blanks.

We will consider the operation of attaching the planken to the frame in detail:

  1. The workpieces can be stacked in any direction, but it is easier and faster to fix them horizontally. In this case, the installation is carried out from the bottom up.
  2. Install beveled boards only horizontally; it is impractical and inconvenient to mount them vertically.
  3. When installing the lower sample, check its horizontal position, otherwise the fence will look messy, and fix it to the supports with self-tapping screws. Use snake-type fasteners to fix the rest. To do this, put the second board on the first without a gap and mark on it the places with which it contacts the supports. Fix the fixing plates in the marked places across the board so that they protrude 10 mm.
  4. Bring the edge of the upper plank under the lower one and fix it with self-tapping screws to the supports, screwing them through the holes in the snake.

Block house fence

A block house is a planed board in the form of a rounded log segment. Sometimes it resembles a profiled beam. Fences are often made from it, despite the high cost. There are several reasons why the owners buy this material: it is sold completely ready for use, there is little waste after installation, and the strength is higher than that of a conventional picket fence with the same thickness.

For fences, it is recommended to buy an economy class block house (C). It has a well-finished surface with small dimensional errors. Economy materials are not much more expensive than a regular picket fence, but they are superior in quality.

The block house is also produced from galvanized steel by cold rolling, using roll forming equipment. A pattern imitating natural wood is applied to the surface. Compared to wooden samples, metal ones have a longer service life and are easier to maintain. However, a lumber picket fence is easier to manufacture.

Usually a block house fence is made of different materials: the supports are made of stone or brick, and the "body" is formed from boards. If the soil is heavy, build a strip foundation. On light and sandy loam soils, it is not required, it is enough to drive the pillars into the ground.

Construction technology is as follows:

  • Prepare a site for installing a fence.
  • Determine the locations for the posts. They should be spaced 3 m apart.
  • Make a strip foundation 500 mm deep and 300 mm wide.
  • To fix the pillars, dig holes 1500 mm deep.
  • Install metal pipes in them with a diameter of 70-80 mm and a height equal to the height of the fence.
  • Assemble the formwork and install it in the trench. If a plinth is planned, the formwork should protrude 200-300 mm above the ground.
  • Make a reinforcing mesh and lower it into the hole.
  • Fill the foundation with concrete.
  • After the mortar has set, line the metal pipes with concrete blocks. Fix 2 mortgages to each pillar on both sides, to which the sections of the block house will be attached. If the height of the fence is 3 m, there should be 3 such mortgages.
  • Fasten horizontal boards 40-60 mm wide to the posts.
  • Paint all elements with block house paint.
  • Pull a cord between the supports to level the top of the fence.
  • Choose the method of joining the picket fences - with the help of special strips or end-to-end. In the first case, you will need special strips that are sold in hardware stores. They must be accompanied by instructions for use. The second option is more difficult. It involves cutting adjacent ends at an angle of 45 degrees.
  • Nail the pickets to the horizontal lines.
  • Make a concrete ebb near the fence.
  • Tile the base / plinth.

Cossack mesh fence

Cossack mesh fencing as a temporary solution for summer cottages

A fence from a Cossack woman does not have significant protective properties, so you will not see it around summer cottages or warehouses, with the exception of a temporary solution.

The purpose of the fence is to mark the territory. Due to the low cost, large areas can be fenced off with a net. It is mounted around pastures, fields, for temporary fencing of facilities under construction. The Cossack net is also called forest net, because it is often installed along highways in forests.

The Cossack fence has a traditional design - the product is attached to pillars dug into the ground. It differs from other types of mesh in the size of the cells. All of them have the same width of 15 or 20 cm, but different heights - at the bottom 5 cm, at the top 20 cm, while the sizes gradually increase from bottom to top. Thus, the lower part becomes impassable for small animals, and the upper one for large ones.

The product is made of a wire with a diameter of 2 mm (at the edges of 2.5 mm). At the intersection, they are connected by a hinge knot. The use of thickened wire at the edges of the mesh avoids sagging after installation.

The delivery kit usually includes metal posts that act as supports. The material is sold in rolls of 50 m, the height of the product is 1-2 m.

The Cossack mesh is considered the cheapest of such products - the price is 2 times less than for a chain-link fence. The low cost is associated with a decrease in the number of supports.

The fence is built in the following sequence:

  1. Dig the extreme posts of the fence into the ground and reinforce with inclined posts so that they do not move when the product is pulled. Between them, fix additional posts (pipes) with a step of 5 m. To reduce the cost of the fence, instead of pipes, you can use wooden posts with a diameter of 10 cm.
  2. Expand the net and fasten it to the outer posts, and then pull it using a pulling device or a winch. You can also use a special tensioner available from hardware stores.
  3. Attach the net to additional supports, eliminating vibrations from wind or animal pressure.

Aluminum fence

Aluminum is considered the most suitable material for building fences. Products made from it do not look gorgeous, but the owners of summer cottages appreciate it for its many advantages:

  • The material is lightweight, does not require strong supports for fastening.
  • It has an unlimited service life.
  • Handles well.
  • Durable, not afraid of corrosion.
  • The aluminum fence does not require painting. Easy to clean with water hose.

To create a fence, smooth or corrugated sheets are used. In the latter case, choose a texture in the form of grains of lentils with pointed ends. Conventional corrugated sheets are used as anti-slip coatings.

A typical aluminum fence is made up of sections that are secured to posts. The blanks are sold in the form of 2x2.5 m panels. You can order sections of individual sizes in various shapes. For the manufacture of the panel, the sheet is framed with a corner of 25x24x4 mm.

The support can be made from any material, but aluminum sections look better between stone or brick pillars. The standard color of the material is white, but large companies often paint products in other shades.
