Painting floors with yacht varnishes, their properties, types, choice, main manufacturers of the material and technology for working with it. Taking into account these parameters, the selected varnish must correspond to such consumer qualities as resistance to moisture and temperature extremes, resistance to ultraviolet radiation and frost. As a rule, any instruction for a varnish contains its performance characteristics, as well as information on how to apply the material and recommendations for using the product for certain types of surfaces.
When choosing a floor varnish, you need to pursue three main goals: to give the wood flooring a decent look, to protect it from damage and to match its color to the interior. In addition, in order to ensure the protective properties of the varnish coating, several points should be taken into account: the possibility of further processing the floor, the type of wood of the surface and its preliminary preparation, compatibility with the previous coating (when renewing it), the operating conditions of the floor.
With significant loads on the floor, you should choose a moisture-resistant and wear-resistant varnish. The material for outdoor decoration of terraces, gazebos, open balconies and loggias should protect the wood of their floors from water, wind, frost, sunlight and seasonal temperature changes.
Softwood varnishes must create a flexible finish. For example, it is not recommended to use ordinary parquet lacquer for a pine board, since after applying it, a hard film can damage the structure of the tree. When soft pine boards bend, their surface is separated from the static varnish layer. It forms chips and cracks, which negatively affect the safety of the entire floor. Therefore, a yacht varnish should be chosen taking into account the type of wood.
Other criteria for choosing a varnish are its shine and shade. Depending on the layout and lighting of the room, you can buy matte or glossy varnish for the floor. Matt varnish is suitable for spacious and light rooms, its shade can highlight the dignity of wood. Glossy floors are appropriate in small and dimly lit rooms, as gloss reflects light and visually increases the volume of the room.
In addition to shine, modern varnishes can also differ in color. Such materials were created not so long ago, but they immediately attracted the attention of many designers, giving them an additional opportunity to translate their fashionable ideas into interior design.

Technology for applying yacht varnish on the floor
Before applying yacht varnish to the floor, it should be thoroughly mixed and, if necessary, diluted with white spirit.
A new wooden floor must be cleaned to a smooth state with sandpaper, wood dust and dirt removed, primed with varnish diluted by 20%, and then covered in 3 layers with an undiluted material.
The previously varnished floor should be cleaned of dirt, cleaned to a matt state with an abrasive cloth, remove dust and carry out a control varnishing on a small area of its surface. If the material does not flake off when it dries, the entire floor can be covered in 3 coats with undiluted varnish.
Control varnishing to check the compatibility of the new and old coatings should also be done on a small area before applying the material to previously painted or antiseptic floor surfaces. If the result is positive, it should be varnished in 3 layers. To increase the strength of the varnish coating, each of its subsequent layers must be applied to a surface pre-treated with a fine abrasive.
Yacht varnish is applied at t = 15-35 ° C and ambient humidity less than 80% using a paint roller, brush or spray gun. Drying time of the material to "tack" at a given temperature is no more than four hours. Each next layer of coating is applied only after the final drying of the previous one. One layer consumes 80-120 g / m22 varnish.
When drying a wooden floor, it is necessary to avoid exposure to sunlight and eliminate the possibility of drafts.
For safety reasons, rubber gloves should be used when working, and after finishing painting the floor, it is necessary to thoroughly ventilate the room within 24 hours. Containers with varnish must be protected from fire and kept away from electrical appliances. It is strictly forbidden to pour waste into the sewer.

Summing up, I would like to remind you that any material must be used for its intended purpose. Manufacturers of yacht varnish do not hide its composition, so any claims of an unlucky buyer are unlikely to be crowned with success. Hence the conclusion: in this case, the material intended for outdoor use should not be used indoors. After all, then health will have to be restored at their own expense.
