The loaf can be either white or black, depending on preference. White croutons are lighter, more airy and porous. From black, on the contrary, they are denser and harder. The loaf should be quite dense and not crumbly, then each piece will have a beautiful shape after drying.

- Baton - 6 pieces
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - 1/2 tsp
- A mixture of herbs - 1/2 tsp
Step-by-step cooking of spicy loaf bread crumbs in a pan
1. Before making bread crumbs in a frying pan at home, you need to cut the bread. The shape of the pieces can be different - bars or cubes. It is important that they are not very large. Thin pieces dry better. In our recipe, grind into cubes with a side of 1 cm.
2. We spread the bread blank in a plastic bag and pour vegetable oil on top.
3. To evenly distribute the butter over the surface of each piece of loaf, we tie the bag so that there is a lot of free space with air inside, and shake it.
4. After that, open the bag and sprinkle with Italian herbs and salt. Tie and shake again. Spices are well distributed over the croutons.
5. Next, you need to fry the loaf croutons in a frying pan without oil, because each piece is already saturated with vegetable fat. We put it on medium heat, pour out the chopped loaf and, stirring continuously, dry it for 5 minutes.
6. Do not wait for the croutons to completely harden. It is necessary to remove it from the heat at the moment when the bread is already dried on the outside, but not yet inside. We put on the table and let cool. During this time, you can stir another 1-2 times, because the pan takes longer to cool and may dry out the bottom layer.
