Ingredients:
- Lightly salted herring - 1 pc.
- Vegetable oil - 3 tablespoons
- Onions - 1-2 pcs. depending on the size
- Bread - 4 large slices
- Table vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Sugar - 1 tsp
Step-by-step preparation of sandwiches with herring and onions, recipe with photo:
1. Peel the onions, wash under running water and chop into thin half rings.
2. Place onion in a deep bowl, add vinegar and pour boiling water over. Leave to marinate for 15 minutes. Boiling water will remove the sharp bitterness from the onion and make it tender.
3. Peel the herring from the film, remove the entrails, cut off the head and tail and divide into fillets, removing the ridge.
4. Wash the herring, put in a bowl and cover with cold drinking water for 10 minutes.
5. Then wash the herring again and dry well with a paper towel. Cut it into pieces of any size you like best.
6. Tilt the onion onto a sieve to drain all the water and blot it with a paper towel. Send it to a deep bowl.
7. Add the herring to the onion.
8. Season the herring with onion with vegetable oil.
9. Mix food well.
10. Cut the bread into slices about 1 cm thick. You can buy sliced bread so that all the slices are the same size.
11. Put the fish in oil on the bread and garnish with a sprig of herbs if desired. Serve ready-made herring and onion sandwiches to the table.
