Projects of houses in the Mediterranean style, photo
If you have a sufficient budget, then take a look at the next building.
This home project includes four bedrooms. There are two terraces here. The first is at the entrance to the house, and the second is in the backyard, which can be used as a summer dining room. If you already have a house with a balcony, then decorate it in a Mediterranean style. Plant flowers, a couple of comfy armchairs, and a small round table. This house was built from aerated concrete blocks and foam blocks. Overlappings are wooden. The roof is made of metal tiles. Monolithic tape foundation.
This type of house consists of two floors. Look at the layout of each.
As you can see, the ground floor has a living room, an office, and a kitchen-dining room. There is also a sauna, a washing department, and a bathroom. There is also a terrace. The attic floor includes four bedrooms, a corridor, a bathroom and a spacious terrace.
The exterior is finished so that you can see it is a Mediterranean style house. There are white, light beige and brown colors. If you have a finished building, you can transform it to make the façade look exactly like this. Then it will remain to complete the interior decoration so that it is also in the Mediterranean style. Even if you have a small house, it is possible to do it. See what the building was like before the renovation.
This is a small one-story house. But as a result of the transformation, it turned into a Mediterranean-style house.
Start with the kitchen, which is also the dining room.
As you can see, the Mediterranean style is dominated by white and various shades of blue. It is in these colors that the tiles are made. You can stick it on the walls or attach the sold adhesive fragments already on the existing light tile.
- Such sliding blinds can also be made by hand. To do this, you need to knock down four rectangles from the bars and evenly attach two more bars horizontally in each such fragment.
- You will have the foundation. Slats are stuffed onto it with the same gap. Then you will need to connect in pairs every two elements with loops.
- You can now paint the wood blinds blue, as well as the area around the window. Attach blinds that can be opened and closed with ease.
Here's how to update your kitchen with your own hands. To do this, paint the fronts of the cabinets white, and some of them in deep blue. The upper beams will also help decorate the Mediterranean-style kitchen. They are pre-painted and then attached to the ceiling. You can pre-work a little with sandpaper to make scuffs in these places. Then there will be the effect that this is not just a newly created kitchen, but it already has its own long history.
A white table and chairs or armchairs also work well here. It will seem that you are on the shore of a reservoir somewhere in the Mediterranean and are in a cozy summer cafe. To get more than just blues and whites, add a little brown. A long hood made with a finish in this color will be appropriate here. Place decorative foliage plants near the window, thereby completing the decoration of the Mediterranean-style kitchen.
Also, beams can be located on the ceiling in the living room. Decorate them the same way. The walls are light, as are the furniture. Hang a couple of white and blue lanterns and a painting related to the Mediterranean. A palm tree in a shiny tub would be appropriate in the corner. Wooden floors, a small rug and a coffee table will help complete the Mediterranean-style living room. Here you can make blinds in blue, just like in the kitchen.
Please note that the living room has a fireplace made in the same color scheme as the cooker hood. A table with a glass lid will add a feeling of lightness and airiness. You can place a swimming pool next to the house, then it will definitely seem to you that you are not in the country, but somewhere in the Mediterranean.
The bedroom may be dominated by light shades. It is in what colors the ceiling and walls are made. Bed linen can also be white, but with a blue or dark finish. Throw in some yellow, and dark pendant lights complete the picture. It remains to put a few plants to complete the decoration of the bedroom.
See how wonderfully the water surface harmonizes with the pebble path. This natural material is fixed with a cement-sand mixture. But first you need to prepare the coating. Plant some flowers around the edges of this piece of paradise. It is better to use the same colors for this. Red flowers with greenery are perfect. Be sure to add white colors. The walls of the fence and buildings can be painted in this color, as well as an umbrella, sun loungers, armchairs and sofas can be made.
If you need to hide from the heat, then arrange the pool so that the midday sun does not penetrate here. In such a shady corner, you can even wait out the July heat. As you can see, they also use mostly blue and white tones. But you need to add a few more others - brown and red.
If you wish, place an outdoor veranda next to the pool. And sometimes you will close the curtains to cover the walls. There can be rattan wicker furniture, as well as handmade wooden items. Such a table is easy to make from boards.
Also, if you wish, you can make another table. Or get one.
It is convenient to walk on the cobblestones. See how the tree growing here was beaten. The top of the trunk circle was sprinkled with fine gravel. This branchy giant blended wonderfully into the atmosphere. The lamps also helped this. You will place some of them directly on the tree trunk circle, and hang others from above in the form of garlands.
- Be sure to create these shady corners. They can be placed near buildings and walls of houses. They will highlight the Mediterranean style.
- You can make a cozy sofa to look like an extension of the wall. If it is stone, use this material for the base of the couch.
- Connect the stones with concrete mixture in several rows. When you reach the desired height, this stage of work is completed.
- But in order to have a support for the sofa, we advise you to build a retaining wall behind this base. On top of it you will place a wooden countertop that can be used as a table. Sew mattresses from foam rubber and fabric, put them on sofas.
You can also create soft pillows from this material. Several flowers in the pots complete the Mediterranean style.
If you don't have a pool, consider at least a small body of water. A fountain idea works great. Look, in the photo on the left, a very small space is allocated for such a reservoir. But how harmonious everything looks. Plant similar flowers around this rectangular base. Climbing plants can be placed along the walls, a wrought-iron arch and pergolas can be made. Place trample-resistant plants between the tiles. On the right photo there are also very interesting ideas with a pond.
DIY Mediterranean garden accessories
Since Greece is a Mediterranean country, you can make an ancient amphora to decorate your garden in this style.
Take a five liter plastic bottle and turn it over. Draw 10 line segments from the center to the bottom with a marker. Focusing on them, you need to cut out so that you get 10 triangles, as in the photo.
Now connect the tops of these triangles at one point and wrap them with threads, passing them through the grooved strips. You can try fixing the cut bottle elements in this position with tape if you can.
Take a plastic glass, saw off its bottom and put this blank on the neck of the bottle. Fix in this position with tape.
Now this blank will need to be covered with a plaster bandage. This requires compliance with certain rules and proportions. To make it easier to work, cut the bandage into fragments and wind them loosely.
Pour 150 g of water into a suitable container. Now gradually pour the same amount of gypsum here and mix. Then you will have 10 minutes to have time to wet each piece of the bandage and wrap them around the amphora blank. Since then this solution will harden. Do it. If you have time, then in the same way arrange its neck. If not, then dilute 50 g of gypsum in 50 g of water and use this solution to decorate the neck of the container from the outside and from the inside.
Gypsum will quickly begin to harden, then smear the outside of the vase with a solution of PVA glue or a primer. Now take a wood putty and place it in the bottle of paint that is covering your hair. Draw future patterns with a pencil and squeeze the prepared putty onto these lines.
Then you need to sand the pattern a little with sandpaper so that the lines become flatter, and then paint it with light beige paint.
If you have a craquelure varnish, it comes in very handy at this stage. Since you will be covering the dried paint with this compound. It will acquire an antique look, as it will be covered with the necessary cracks.
When the surface is dry, apply several coats of the matt outdoor lacquer. Use a yacht. Each layer must be dried.
You will succeed in such a wonderful amphora. She will perfectly match the Mediterranean style. Place it near a body of water or elsewhere in the garden.
See also how to make an amphora. This jug will turn out to be more graceful. And you can decorate your veranda or terrace with it.
Inflate the balloon and tie it with string. Insert this ball into a piece of plastic pipe. The thread should be long enough to hang over the other side of this tube.
Cut the plaster bandage into pieces. If you do not have such a ready-made one, then use a regular bandage and plaster it with a solution, as in the previous master class. If you took a store plaster bandage, dip it in a container of water and start attaching it to the workpiece.
To make it more convenient to do the plastering, first place the tube in a three-liter jar and fix it in the hole with a terry towel or with another cloth.
First, shape the bottom of the tube, at the junction with the ball.
Then start moving higher and stick around the whole ball. After that, attach a saucer here that you can donate, as it will remain here. You can use a pot for a planter. Also cover this part and the joint with the ball with plaster bandages.
Cut off the extra length of the tube obliquely so that the neck of the amphora is exactly like that. Pierce the ball with a needle and pull it out through the hole.
It's time to make the amphora further. Fold the cast bandage with a roll and wrap it around the top of the tube so that there is a thickening of the neck here. Take steel wire to make a handle out of it. Roll up the wire, shape it, then attach the plaster bandage to this handle. By this time, the amphora should dry, then use plaster bandages to attach the handle in place.
Dilute the finishing dry putty so that it becomes a thick yogurt, cover the vessels outside with it. When the coating is dry, go over with fine sandpaper. Repeat the procedure three times. When the top coat is dry, coat your creation with acrylic construction primer 2 times. When this layer is dry, draw with a simple pencil drawing.
Dilute the finishing putty to a thick sour cream and pour it into a tube of hair dye. Using this device, squeeze out the mass in a thin stream, apply it to the pencil drawing. When the finishing putty dries up, it will be possible to paint with metallic paint. Here's how to make an amphora to look like an antique bronze. This is a great option to decorate your garden in a Mediterranean style. If you need to decorate closed spaces, such as a gazebo, then watch another master class that will allow you to do a similar thing.
DIY Mediterranean-style amphora vase made of salt dough
Such a flowerpot will also come in handy in a room decorated in a Mediterranean style. And if you do not have enough vases in your house, and you have to put flowers in jars, then make such an ancient Greek amphora that will solve this problem.
Take a 3-liter glass jar and cut discs out of corrugated cardboard.
They should be of different sizes, so that then you put them in height and get a cone, the lower part of which is smaller than the upper one.
Glue in this position with the "Moment of installation". Now take the salted dough and use it to attach the resulting cardboard blank to the bottom of the jar. Also, from this flour mass, make the bottom of the future amphora.
Then you will need a medical plaster bandage. Moisten it with water and attach to the jar. And a bowl of mayonnaise will be an excellent neck. It will just fit in there. If not, use a can of sour cream or other dairy product.
Stick the missing pieces of cardboard down. And we decorate the narrow and uneven places of the can with the help of salt dough.
When it dries up, cover the future vase with putty. So that it does not fall off over time, for reliability, in addition to glue, fix the lower part of the vase with self-tapping screws.
Sand the surface of the vase to make it even. Twist two blanks for amphora handles from the wire and stick around them with dough. Using the same flour product, glue these blanks in place. Twist the flagella from the dough and make two strips of them at the top of the vase. Place the same dough loops between them.
Now coat the neck with epoxy in several coats.
Here's how to make the amphora further, so that the Mediterranean style is not only in the garden, but also indoors. It remains to cover the vase with enamel and you can put it in the most prominent place.
How to make a Mediterranean style column?
This element will also come in handy when you are decorating your garden in a Mediterranean style.
If you start decorating a gazebo inside or a room, then you can use the simplest option. You will need a metal or sewer pipe. These blanks must be pasted over with decorative foam.
But since the plumbing pipe is light, it is better to preload it if it is not securely fixed at the bottom to the floor and at the top to the ceiling. To do this, pour sand into the cavity and make plugs so that it does not spill out. And if you have a stenoflex of this shape, then paste over this blank with ordinary foam borders.
Start with one item first, then attach the next. You can use regular double-sided tape for this. To decorate the top and bottom, you can also use scotch tape to connect skirting boards and thick foam ceilings to create decorative elements.
Attach the top and bottom and cover the gaps with foam ceiling tiles.
If you need a monolithic round concrete column, then you can use cardboard as formwork. It is better to take a ready-made form from this material. These can be found in construction markets, specialized stores. Carpets, linoleum, greenhouse film are usually wound on these rolls. You can ask for these already unnecessary materials in the form of bushings.
Cover the inside of this cardboard blank with a water-repellent material. It's good if there is tape here. If not, then you can attach it. Since cardboard formwork is unstable, it is better to attach a wooden pedestal to it from the outside to make the formwork more reliable.
Now you will need to put a reinforcing mesh inside, and then pour concrete mixture here. When the solution is completely dry, then you just need to cut the cardboard with a knife and remove it. And you sand the column, cover it with a primer.
You can use a special concrete mixture with the addition of plasticizers. Then it will already be of the desired consistency and the required color.
If you want a Mediterranean style in the interior, then use the following idea. See what wonderful columns you get. And hardly anyone would guess that they are made of ordinary sewer pipes.
And available plumbing pipes were used. If the column is against the background of a drywall arch, then first you need to make a box out of drywall, make a round cut at the bottom of this blank and insert the blank here. Then the pipes were covered with fiberglass with PVA. Then they were primed and putty applied. When it is dry, sandpaper it. Then you can paint them like marble. If you wish, you can make a decoupage or simply glue it over with a suitable film.
You can also use asbestos pipes. Fill them with concrete, draw a drawing outside and you can leave such columns on the street. They will perfectly decorate the exterior in a Mediterranean style.
