Every working housewife, who also takes care of children, is faced with the problem of a catastrophic lack of time. But we absolutely do not want this to be reflected in our families. Therefore, we are sharing a recipe for very tasty and fragrant puff pastry snails with poppy seeds, which are cooked in literally half an hour.
For such baking, you will need ready-made puff pastry (sheet), which can be bought at any supermarket. The sweet poppy filling will add conviviality to your baked goods. It is not for nothing that poppy is traditionally widely used in winter baking: it is put in strudels, buns, rolls, as well as in kutya, which is served on Christmas Eve. For the filling in snails, you can use ready-made poppy seed, but it is better to prepare it yourself.

- Puff pastry - 200 g
- Poppy filling - 4-5 tbsp. l.
- Chicken egg - 1 pc.

1. Give the finished dough time to defrost. Depending on the amount of filling and the desired amount of baked goods, we use 1 or 2 sheets. When the dough is soft enough, sprinkle flour on the table and roll out the dough into a rectangle. It is not necessary to achieve geometric accuracy, it is enough that the sheet is uniformly thin.
2. To prepare the poppy seed filling, pour boiling water over a bag of dry poppy seeds, leave for 10 minutes, and then drain. Repeat this procedure 2-3 times. The poppy will be slightly saturated with water and will increase in volume. Now you need to kill it in a blender or grind it in a mortar with 2-3 tablespoons of sugar or 2 teaspoons of honey. This will make the filling soft and the grains will not squeak on the teeth. In this case, the poppy will slightly change color, a whitish milk will appear, which will give the poppy filling a bluish hue. Add the whipped egg white of one egg to the poppy seed mass and the filling is ready to eat. For the especially lazy, there is a ready-made poppy filling on store shelves.
Lubricate a rolled sheet of puff pastry with poppy filling, evenly distributing it over the entire surface. Leave one centimeter on the wide edge not spread with the filling.
3. Start rolling the dough into a roll. We try to do this tightly enough so that the snails do not disintegrate, and the finished baked goods look neat. Pinch the edge that we did not grease with the filling, moistening it a little with water: this way the roll will hold better.
4. Cut the poppy roll into small pieces with a sharp knife, no more than 2 centimeters wide.
5. Cover the baking sheet with baking paper, on which we spread the snails. We place the rolls not very close to one another, leave small gaps so that the baked goods rise and do not stick together. Lubricate the snails with poppy seeds with whipped egg yolk, sprinkle with granulated sugar if desired. We bake at a temperature of 220 for up to 20 minutes on the penultimate shelf of the oven.
6. Allow the finished baked goods with poppy seeds to cool slightly, remove from the parchment and place on a serving dish.
