Today we will find out if there is any sense in using this drug by security forces.

The mechanism of action of AICAR on the body

The main effect of this peptide on the body is associated with the activation of AMPK. Many athletes know that ATP is synthesized by mitochondria as an energy source for chemical reactions at the cellular level. These processes do not use fats, glucose and fatty acids as energy sources, as they must be produced in the mitochondria to create ATP. When this substance is synthesized, its first derivative product is adenosine dephosphate (ADP). If the cell lacks other sources of energy, then the next derivative is adenosine monophosphate (AMP).

The accumulation of AMP occurs only when the cell has nowhere else to take energy. The body has a special system, thanks to which the cell identifies the absence of an energy source by the level of AMP, after which AMPK is urgently activated.

This substance then starts the process of obtaining energy from fatty acids, by converting them into ATP and stimulates the work of other systems. From all that has been written, we can conclude that thanks to AMPK, the cellular mechanism is activated at the moment when they do not have energy sources. This can happen with high-intensity training or a lack of calories.

When a high level of AICAR peptide is created in the body, fat burning begins to occur more intensively, due to the acceleration of AMPK synthesis.

Now we should talk about those dosages of AICAR peptide, in which fat burning and endurance were increased. All these doses are valid for a person weighing about 90 kilograms.

So far, three mouse studies have been completed. In the first study, experimental animals were prone to diabetes and obesity. They were administered the drug for five weeks daily in the amount of 500 milligrams per kilogram of body weight. The test subjects' endurance increased by an average of 44%, and the expression of genes responsible for metabolic processes also increased. A person, in order to achieve a similar result, needs to take about 3.2 grams for each kilogram of body weight. In the second study, mice were dosed with 250 milligrams of peptide per kilogram of animal weight. An increase in insulin sensitivity was found that lasted for 24 hours after the drug was used. The human dose would still be the same 3.2 grams per kilogram.

In the last major study, the dose of the drug was 150 milligrams per kilogram of body weight. Two groups of animals were used: obese and thin. It was found that the peptide had a beneficial effect on obese animals, significantly improving their condition. In turn, there were no significant changes in the body of thin mice. For humans, the equivalent dose to achieve this is 1 gram per kilogram of body weight.

Several more less significant clinical studies have been conducted that have confirmed the effectiveness of using the above dosages.

Admittedly, it is too early to use AICAR. Research on the effects of the substance on the body is ongoing and more information should be available about it. But if the athlete nevertheless decided to use the AICAR peptide for fat burning and endurance, then the optimal dosage would be 500 milligrams per day. The period of use of the peptide should be limited to four weeks.

It can also be argued that the use of the drug for injection is seen as inappropriate. Another thing is the opportunity to purchase a peptide in the form of a powder and prepare a solution for injections yourself. Moreover, the use of the drug at this stage can be justified only to increase endurance. As a fat burner, AICAR is quite expensive.

There is already experience in the use of peptide by cyclists. The dosage was the already mentioned 500 milligrams three to four hours before the start of the competition. It should be recognized that this figure is lower in comparison with the calculated dosages, which were obtained based on the tests of the drug on animals, but was able to bring a certain result. Lower dosages are ineffective, and it makes no sense to use them.

In conclusion, we can say that the use of the peptide in bodybuilding seems to be unjustified. In this sport, endurance is not important, and for a fat burner, the peptide has a high cost. In addition, there are more effective drugs that accelerate the processes of utilization of fat cells. In turn, athletes for whom endurance is a key indicator may try the drug. However, as already noted above, it is worth doing this only when it is possible to make an injection solution on your own.

The dosage of the peptide should be at least 500 milligrams with daily use. A lower dosage is no longer effective and does not make sense. Perhaps, the use of small doses in the composition of complex preparations will be more effective. But this will entail the need to make adjustments to the nutrition and exercise programs. Athletes wishing to be convinced of the effectiveness of the peptide from personal experience should, if possible, leave all other parameters unchanged. This is the only way to understand what effect the AICAR peptide has on your body.
