Ketchup is one of the most popular sauces, however, when it comes to loved ones, you want to feed them not only something tasty, but also healthy, without worrying about which preservatives and stabilizers are concentrated in one small jar. That is why I suggest making tomato ketchup with onions and apples at home. You can adjust the taste of this winter preparation yourself by adding more or less spices or replacing them with others, guided by your own taste. For homemade ketchup, choose meaty tomatoes with firm flesh, such as cream. Apples need to be sour to balance the flavor. There are no special tricks in making ketchup, just follow the step-by-step recipe and make sure that making a delicious sauce for the winter is very easy. Ingredients:
- Tomatoes - 2 kg
- Apples - 250 g
- Onions - 200 g
- Salt - 1 tbsp l.
- Sugar - 180 g
- Table vinegar 6% - 90 ml
- Ground cinnamon - 0.5 tsp
- Ground chili pepper - 1 tsp
- Dried basil - 1 tsp

Prepare the tomatoes: wash the fruit, cut it in half and remove the stalk attachment point. Anything that raises doubts should also be cut and removed. Place the tomato halves in a saucepan and put on low heat, let them simmer for 15–20 minutes.
Grind the softened tomatoes through a sieve to get rid of the seeds and peel. Peel the apples and onions, core the apples, cut into small slices and place in the bowl of a blender or food processor. Chop the onion and apple into a smooth puree and add it to the tomato ketchup base. Stir and return the tomato saucepan to the heat. Simmer for 40 minutes, until the tomato base is boiled down and its volume is slightly reduced.
Add salt, sugar, pepper, aromatic herbs and aromatic spices. Also add vinegar and simmer the ketchup, stirring occasionally, for another 40 minutes over low heat. With 10-15 minutes before the end of cooking, bring the winter billet to an impeccable uniform consistency using a hand blender.
Pour the finished ketchup into sterile jars, roll up and wrap up until it cools completely. Such winter preparation does not need additional sterilization. Homemade ketchup can also be simply chilled, poured into convenient bottles, and refrigerated.
