Ingredients:
- Lightly salted herring - 1 carcass
- Sugar - 1 tsp
- Bay leaf - 1 pc.
- Table vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Onions - 1 pc.
- Allspice peas - 3 pcs.
- Vegetable oil - 4-5 tablespoons
Step by step preparation of pickled herring with onions in a jar, recipe with photo:
1. Peel the onions, wash them under running water, dry them with a paper towel and chop them into thin quarter rings.
2. Send the onion to the jar, season with vinegar and sugar. Stir and set aside.
3. Wash the herring under running water and dry with a paper towel.
4. Cut off the fish's head, fins, tail and make an incision in the abdomen. Gut the herring. Make a long cut in the back and use your fingers to gently peel off the skin, starting from the head to the tail. The skin comes off easily. Use your fingers to remove the spine with ribs. Rinse the finished fillet under running water and dry with a paper towel.
5. Cut the fish into 1 cm thin slices.
6. Send the herring to the jar with the onions.
7. Add bay leaves and allspice peas to the jar.
8. Stir the herring with the onion, close the jar with a lid and send to marinate in the refrigerator for half an hour. You can serve pickled herring with onions to the table directly in a jar or put on a plate.
