Shawarma is a dish from Armenia, where it was borrowed from Turkish cuisine. This simple dish is loved by many and is always eaten with pleasure. Food is sold literally at every step, in tents and kiosks. However, the most delicious shawarma is made by yourself at home. Moreover, this process is not complicated at all.
The essence of the recipe is pretty simple. Pre-fried meat with a lot of different vegetables is put into thin pita bread and poured over the sauce! In principle, you can use any filling, but shawarma with chicken breast is the tastiest. Today I decided to make just such a combination - chicken and Korean carrots. The result is very tasty, the dish is hearty and spicy. I suggest you make such a dish, I am sure you will like it very much.

Cooking shawarma with chicken and Korean carrots
1. Wash the chicken thighs. Remove the skin from them, separate the meat from the bone and cut it into pieces about 2-3 cm in size. Then wipe dry with a paper towel.
2. Put the frying pan on the stove, add vegetable oil and heat well. Put in the meat and make a high heat. Roast the chicken for 5 minutes until it quickly turns brown, which will seal the pieces and keep them juicy. Then reduce the temperature to medium mode, season the meat with salt and ground pepper. Cook them until tender within 10 minutes. Do not overdo it on the stove so that the meat does not get dry.
3. Meanwhile, cut the tomato and cucumber into half rings and finely chop the onions.
4. Combine ketchup with mayonnaise.
5. Stir the sauce until smooth.
6. Spread the lavash on the table and put the fried meat on it. By the way, the taste of shawarma depends not only on the set of products used, but also on the quality of the lavash. You can buy lavash in a supermarket, or you can bake it yourself. The latter will always taste better. You will find the recipe for making homemade lavash on the pages of our website.
7. Pour the sauce liberally over the fried meat.
8. Sprinkle generously with Korean carrots on top.
9. Place the tomato and cucumber rings around the edges.
10. Roll the pita bread into an envelope and serve. You can also pre-fry it in a grill pan. This will make the appetizer much tastier.
If you want to reduce the calorie content of your dish, you can use sour cream or natural low-fat yogurt instead of mayonnaise. You can also replace chicken thighs, which contain 180 kcal, with breasts (112 kcal). Chicken meat contains 140 kcal.
