Ingredients:
- Frozen puff pastry - 300 g
- Poppy - 100 g
- Sugar - 100 g or to taste
- Drinking water - about 1-1.5 l
Making a puff pastry roll with poppy seeds:
1. Take the dough out of the freezer and put it to defrost, while you fill it with the filling. Take poppy seeds and sugar.
2. Place the poppy seeds in a large, deep container. after preparation, it will increase in volume, and fill it with boiling water.
3. Leave it to stand for 15-20 minutes for the water to reach room temperature and cloudy color.
4. Gently drain the water and repeat the same procedure 3 times.
5. Then transfer the poppy seeds to a food processor with a cutting knife attachment and add sugar.
6. Interrupt it until the milk begins to stand out from the poppy and it will have a dark blue tint.
7. When the dough is thawed and soft and pliable, take a rolling pin and roll it out into a thin rectangular layer. Make all movements in the same direction so as not to disturb the layering.
8. Place all the poppy seed filling in the middle of the layer.
9. Distribute it over the area of the dough, not reaching the edges by 2-3 cm. Tuck the dough from three ends, covering the filling.
10. Gently roll the dough into a roll.
11. Line a baking sheet with baking parchment and place the roll seam down on it. If desired, you can grease the roll with an egg or butter so that there is a golden crust. You can also sprinkle with something: poppy seeds, sesame seeds, crushed nuts, etc.
