Draniki is a national Belarusian dish. They are usually prepared from a minimum of ingredients, based on grated potatoes and onions. However, this is not the only way to prepare this dish. You can make them from absolutely any product. For example, from zucchini or carrots. But today's recipe focuses on a rarer variety, legumes, namely peas.
This type of potato pancakes is prepared very simply and from cheap products. They cannot be classified as fast cooking methods, because peas need to be soaked, boiled and heated. But after doing this procedure, further things will go faster. This dish can be served in a variety of forms. For example, instead of bread for the first course or as a separate dish with sour cream on your own, or just use it with a cup of tea. In any case, pea dishes are always very satisfying and after them there is no feeling of hunger for a long time.

For a variety of dishes, you can add all kinds of products to the pea dough. Cooking pea pancakes
1. Sort the peas, removing the spoiled grains. Rinse and soak in water for 8 hours to swell and cook well. If possible, change the water 2-3 times during this time so that the peas do not ferment. Soaking water should be 3 times more than peas.
Tip: Many skip the steeping process and simply boil the legume for longer. However, soaking it not only speeds up the cooking process, but also prevents stomach flatulence and bloating.
2. Then put the peas in a sieve and rinse under running water. Transfer to a cooking pot, cover with water and boil.
3. In the process of boiling, foam will appear on the surface of the water, remove it all, make a small fire, close the pan with a lid and cook for about 2 hours. When the consistency of the peas is soft, remove them from the stove. If any water remains, drain it.
4. Use a blender to grind the peas into a homogeneous mass. This process can also be done with a crush.
5. Place the butter in a saucepan and beat in the egg.
6. Pour in the bran and mix well the puree. You can use any bran, rye, linseed, wheat, etc. You can also not put them in the dish at all, because they are used solely for benefit, and do not add any additional taste to potato pancakes.
7. Place the pan on the stove, add oil and heat. Form the pancakes into an oval shape and place in the pan to fry. To prevent the dough from sticking to your hands, soak them in water. You can also spoon pancakes into the pan.
8. Cook the pancakes on one side for about 2-3 minutes over medium heat. It is necessary that they are browned until golden brown. Then turn over and cook for the same amount of time.
9. Serve ready-made pea pancakes warm, hot or cold. they are delicious in any form.
