A little chicken meat, vegetables, a glass of millet groats - and soon millet porridge with chicken is on your table with heat. This dish will become your lifesaver!
I think many housewives pay tribute to dishes in which meat or fish are cooked with some kind of porridge: a side dish and meat in one dish. The most famous dish of this kind is, of course, pilaf, but rice is not the only one that can claim the title of supergrain. The other day in the store I came across a bag of millet, and I decided to cook something delicious from this cereal. And so it turned out a wonderful, uncomplicated, rather quickly cooking dish - wheat porridge with chicken. For a change, I decided to add some mushrooms. I'm sure this added a few more points to the porridge. In favor of this dish, I hasten to say that children take it well: millet is softer than rice and turns out to be not as dry as buckwheat. Millet porridge with chicken turns out to be crumbly, golden yellow, slightly sweet due to carrots and juicy due to mushrooms.

Step by step cooking of millet porridge with chicken
First you need to prepare the meat. We used a chicken thigh, but you can also use fillets. Wash the meat, separate it from the bone and cut into small pieces. Rinse the champignons under running water without soaking and chop arbitrarily.
Prepare vegetables for frying - onions and carrots. Peel and wash, dice the onion and grate the carrots.
First fry the onions and carrots in vegetable oil. When the vegetables are slightly browned, add mushrooms and chopped chicken to them.
Cook, stirring, the roast until the meat and mushrooms are browned, then cover, reduce the heat and simmer for another 10-15 minutes. Season with salt and pepper shortly to taste.
Rinse millet under running water several times. Pour 2 cups of boiling water over the porridge and cook in salted water, stirring occasionally, until tender.
Combine the finished millet porridge with chicken meat with vegetables and mushrooms, stir and turn off the heat. Cover with a lid to mix the flavors and aromas.
Serve hot, sprinkled with chopped herbs. Green onion feathers are perfect.
