It is low in calories, so dishes with it are dietary, which is important for those who adhere to proper nutrition and monitor their weight. Of the various options for its preparation, stewing is considered one of the ideal options, there are also many ways of this.
If you like to experiment, you want to make some changes to your recipe and make a more original and unusual dish, cook cabbage in sauce according to the proposed recipe. It turns out such a delicious and spicy cabbage. It is suitable for a side dish, for filling in pies, pies, dumplings … The amount of sauce and spices can be varied by adding in any quantity and adapting the dish to your taste. Of the spices, salt, black pepper, a little sugar, and bay leaf are usually put. But this circle can be expanded and add caraway seeds, paprika, suneli hops, nutmeg. In general, you can add any spices at the discretion of the cook. Tomato paste can be substituted with tomato juice or fresh tomatoes.

Ingredients:
- White cabbage - 1 kg
- Ground dried green onions - 1 tsp
- Apples - 1 pc.
- Sugar - 1 tsp without slide
- Salt - 1 tsp or to taste
- Carrots - 1 pc.
- Vegetable oil - for frying
- Tomato sauce - 3-4 tablespoons
- Allspice peas - 3 pcs.
- Ground black pepper - 0.5 tsp
- Bay leaf - 2 pcs.
Step by step cooking stewed cabbage in sauce, recipe with photo:

1. Wash white cabbage under running water. Remove the top inflorescences as they are usually dirty. Chop the head of cabbage into thin strips.

2. Peel the carrots, wash and grate on a coarse grater.

3. Wash the apple, remove the seed box with a special knife and grate on a coarse grater.

4. Pour vegetable oil into a frying pan and heat well. Send cabbage into it and fry in medium heat, stirring, bringing it to transparency and light goldenness.

5. Next, place the carrots in the pan. Stir and continue to fry food for another 10 minutes.

6. Then place the grated apple.

7. Add tomato paste, salt and pepper, add bay leaves and allspice peas.

8. Stir the food, turn the heat to the minimum setting, cover the pan and simmer the cabbage in the sauce for 50-60 minutes. Such cabbage will be soft, but with a slight crunch. If you want it to be more tender, continue stewing for another half hour.
During cooking, you can add a little citric acid or vinegar if the cabbage is not sour enough. But taste it first. It is better to use grape vinegar.
