To equip a pool in a bath, you must first decide on its type. The model is chosen in accordance with the intended location, room size, budget. A do-it-yourself pool in a bathhouse will cost less than a ready-made one, but you will have to spend time and effort on the process of assembling and installing it.
Types of swimming pools for a bath
The following modifications are distinguished by the type of structure:
- Collapsible … The cheapest option. They can be mounted / dismantled and transported.
- Stationary … They are made in the form of a concrete bowl. They are installed on the surface or buried in the ground. They are distinguished by their strength and durability.
- Whirlpool (SPA) … Compact devices for relaxation and hydromassage. Ideal for small saunas. Among the disadvantages is the lack of the ability to swim.
Pools are distinguished depending on the location:
- Internal … Equipped in the bathhouse. Designed for year-round use.
- Outdoor … Installed outdoors. Operated in the warm season.
Stationary pool in the bath
Before starting work, it is necessary to design the pool, determine its size and the shape of the depression. The optimal sizes are: mirror - 2, 2 square meters. m; depth - 1.5 m; length (if swimming is supposed) - 5, 5 m. It is easier, faster and cheaper to build a rectangular structure.
Materials for a stationary pool in a bath
When the project is ready, we buy building materials. For a stationary pool, we need: W-8 concrete, cement, gravel or crushed stone of a medium fraction, ceresite, sand, reinforcing mesh, mosaic or porcelain tiles (from 1.5 thousand rubles apiece).
When constructing inside a bath, it is important that the pool bowl does not come into contact with the walls. When erecting outside, the distance to the foundations of nearby buildings should reach 0.6–0.8 m.
Installation of a stationary pool in a bathhouse step by step
Work on installing the pool in the bath is carried out in the following sequence:
- We prepare a foundation pit of the required size. It should be 50 cm wider and 40 cm deeper than the planned bowl.
- We make the bottom with a slope. We place a drain pipe (10–12 cm in diameter) in the place of maximum depth and connect it with a pipe to a drainage pit or sewer. They should be located more than five meters from the future pool.
- We fill in a layer of sand about 5–7 cm and then tamp it on top with a layer of gravel, lining a kind of sand and gravel cushion.
- We hammer pins with a diameter of 1, 2–1, 4 cm with an indentation of 5–6 cm along the walls with a step of about 30 cm.
- We make a horizontal strapping. As a result, you should get a grid with cells up to 30 sq. Cm. It can be welded or tied with wire.
- Pour a layer of concrete (10–12 cm) and lay the reinforcing mesh. It is better to choose concrete as water-absorbing as possible.
- We tie the mesh to the wall reinforcement and re-fill it with 10–12 cm concrete.
- Let the bottom dry for 12-16 hours.
- We lay roofing material and walking boards so as not to destroy the concrete base.
- We knock down with the help of bars the boards mounted for formwork inside the pit at a distance of 20-25 cm from the walls.
- Pour a 20 cm layer of concrete. Tamp it carefully and repeat the process until the concrete reaches the top. We fill the entire filling in one go.
- After 48–72 hours, we remove the formwork. Let the structures dry for 14–20 days. During the first week, we moisten it with water about three times a day.
- We lay a layer of waterproofing. For this, it is better to use PVC film.
- After complete drying, plaster the bowl. Add ceresite emulsion to the cement-sand mortar.
- We make decoration with glass mosaic or porcelain tiles. It is undesirable to use ceramic because of the porous base.
- After all the work on the arrangement of the pool is completed, we install additional equipment: lighting, heating and filtration devices, pumps.
Note that the construction of a stationary pool in a bath will take from 1, 5-2 months.
Arrangement of a pool in a collapsible bath
Such a model will be cheap, and its arrangement will not take much time. To do this, you need to follow these instructions:
- Choosing a thick plastic wrap.
- We weld the approximate shape of the bowl with an iron.
- We put it in a frame of a suitable size and fix it.
The structure is considered disposable, but it can be mounted in a short time with minimal costs.
Instructions for the construction of a brick pool in a bath
Before you make a brick pool in a bathhouse with your own hands, you should draw up a construction project. This type is suitable for outdoor construction.
Materials for a brick pool in a bath
For the construction of a brick pool, we need: a geotextile membrane, crushed stone, gravel, coarse sand, a waterproofing membrane, ribbed reinforcement with a diameter of 12 mm, M400 concrete, solid ceramic red brick, cement, a water-repellent additive for a solution, liquid glass, a plasticizer, a primer, antiseptic, painting net, rubber paint, water-repellent glue, finishing material (mosaic, tiles), reinforcing metal mesh, expanded polystyrene, reinforced tape.
Installation instructions for a brick pool for a bath
The construction of a brick structure is carried out in stages:
- We pull out a pit 40 cm deep more than the estimated depth of the bowl.
- We install the drain pipe at a slope.
- Align the bottom and make a slope towards the drain.
- We lay a layer of geotextile. On not heaving ground, you can do without it.
- We fill in 20 cm of fine and medium crushed stone. With a high level of groundwater, drain pipes must be installed at the edges.
- We compact with a vibropress.
- Fill in a 10 cm layer of sand. We wet it with water for maximum compaction.
- We lay the strips of the waterproofing membrane with an overlap of 10 cm. We glue the joints with double-sided construction tape. We put the edges on the walls. It is undesirable to use polyethylene due to its low strength.
- We reinforce the bottom slab of concrete 20 cm in increments of 2-3 square meters. For this, we use ribbed reinforcement with a diameter of 1, 2 cm. For heaving soils, we make reinforcement in 2 belts.
- Pour concrete. The M400 type is considered optimal. It is distinguished by its high water-repellent properties. Let it dry for 10 days.
- We dilute a sand-cement mortar with a plasticizer or liquid glass.
- We make brickwork and reinforce each row with a metal mesh (4–5 mm) or several rods.
- We build drainage pipes into the wall.
- At the end of the construction of the walls, we will plaster with a water-repellent solution.
- We prime, after drying, cover with an antiseptic.
- We cover with one layer of paint net and re-plaster the surface.
- We mount additional elements - nozzles, drain.
- We paint the walls with rubber paint to ensure waterproofing.
- We carry out finishing work. We use hydrophobic glue for laying mosaics or tiles.
- We carry out external waterproofing. In heaving soils, before this process, we fill a reinforcing mesh and plaster with a water-repellent solution.
- We insulate the walls of the pool from the outside with a double layer of heat insulator. The optimal material for this is considered to be expanded polystyrene with a density of 35 kg / sq. m.
- We glue the seams with reinforced tape or hydrophobic mastic.
- We fill up the space between the pit and the pool wall. For heaving soils, it is better to backfill with a mixture of gravel and sand.
It should be noted that the best option for lining the pool is glass mosaic. With its help, you can easily eliminate minimal defects and unevenness of the pool surface. Features of the construction of a swimming pool for a bath, see the video:
