A washing room in a bathhouse can be equipped with a swimming pool, a font or an ordinary shower stall, which is installed on a pallet. A durable and solid foundation is easy to build on your own, having correctly waterproofed it and making a slope towards the drain channel. Content:

Not a single bath can do without a washing department. In the old days, it was combined with a steam room. In the projects of modern steam rooms, these rooms are separated. Depending on the size of the washroom and the number of guests, it can accommodate both a large pool and a compact shower cubicle - one or more. As for the equipment of the stall itself, due attention must be paid to the shower tray.

You can purchase a production booth with a base already installed. Finished pallets are made from various materials:

  • Enamelled steel … Such designs are characterized by strength and lightness. The disadvantages include the appearance of rust and the unpleasant noise emitted by the pressure of water.
  • Faience or ceramics … Such products are distinguished by originality, exquisite design and high cost.
  • Marble … Durable and robust pallets. Most expensive.
  • Enamelled cast iron … They are very heavy, but will last a long time.
  • Acrylic … A pallet made of this material is necessarily installed on special supporting supports, since it can deform under the weight of the person taking a shower. It quickly deteriorates, scratches and turns yellow over time.

To save on the purchase of a manufacturing product, you can build a shower tray yourself. In this case, you can embody a personal design project and make an arbitrary shape in accordance with personal preferences.

Installation instructions for a shower tray in a washing bath

The process includes proper installation of sewer system elements, filling the bottom with a slope and thorough waterproofing of the base. First you need to decide on the location of the booth in the washing room. The pallet is made of concrete, and therefore it is important to calculate the maximum permissible floor load. It is advisable to take this into account even at the stage of building a steam room.

The base consists of bricks and mortar. For these purposes, it is better to choose a ceramic brick, since it is more resistant to moisture, unlike silicate brick. For mortar, it is desirable to use dry concrete M-400.

The choice of insulating materials must be taken seriously. A waterproofing agent will be needed both rolled (roofing material can be used) and plastic (for example, bituminous mastic). If the finish is supposed to be tiled, then immediately buy a rubberized water-repellent glue and a moisture-resistant antibacterial compound for grouting.

So that the base does not lose its appearance for a long time, you will also need a primer treatment. Choose a fluid that is designed for damp rooms.

If the floor in the washing room is not concreted, then before installing the pallet in the bath, you need to make a concrete screed and wait for it to dry completely.

The preparation of the walls and floor is carried out in the following order:

  1. We mark the perimeter of the location of the future structure.
  2. We clean the area of the floor and adjacent walls to the level of the height of the structure.
  3. We process the surface on which the installation is supposed to be done with a primer, which is applied in 2 layers.
  4. After drying, we lay a roll-up waterproofing agent (roofing material) in several layers, completely covering the cracks in the junction of the floor and walls with it.
  5. We coat the walls and floor with bituminous mastic.
  6. We glue the joint between the floor and the walls with waterproofing tape.

If you want to additionally insulate the flooring, then before carrying out the work, you can install the "warm floor" system.

It is necessary to install drainage pipes in advance and install a siphon to prevent unpleasant odors from entering the room. It can be located both in the middle of the pallet and on its edge. In the second case, it will be much easier to make the slope.

In the process, we adhere to the following order of actions:

  • We do the joining of the ladder and the sewer pipe at an angle of three degrees.
  • We firmly fix the structure so that it does not move when pouring.
  • We check and, if necessary, additionally seal the joints with gaskets.
  • We treat pipe joints with silicone sealant for complete waterproofing.
  • We fix the beacons on the walls to control the slope.
  • We fill the bottom with a cement-sand mortar with a slope towards the drain, taking into account the thickness of the finishing material, so that in the end it is located on the same level with the ladder.

The market offers a wide range of square, round and even shaped drains with additional gaskets, gratings and seals. You can choose the model that best suits your design.

It is worth considering in advance the height of the partitions of the structure being constructed. High walls are usually equipped if it is planned to install an overall booth with the possibility of a semi-seated acceptance of procedures. For older people, it is better to equip small sides.

The procedure for installing the sides for the shower tray in the bath looks like this: we install a wooden formwork from boards with a width of 4 cm, fill the sides with concrete and wait for it to dry completely. On average, it takes 14-20 days depending on the conditions.

You can lay out a brick base and plaster it with a cement-sand mortar. Cement-lime mortar must not be used! In any case, be sure to use the building level to determine the evenness of the sides.

Finishing the shower tray in the bath

It is better to use ceramic tiles or mosaics as a finishing coating. The main requirements for the material are moisture resistance and non-slip texture.

We sew the shower tray in the bath in the following sequence:

  1. We apply bituminous or rubber-bitumen mastic to the entire surface, glue the joints of the pallet and the wall with waterproofing tape.
  2. Apply a special hydrophobic adhesive using a notched trowel.
  3. We lay the tiles and press them tightly, evenly, leaving minimal gaps between the individual elements. We tap the surface with a rubber mallet.
  4. For evenness of the gaps, we use special plastic crosses, which must be removed after installation.
  5. After complete laying, we wait for drying and rub the seams using a moisture-resistant grout and a rubber spatula.
  6. We fix special corners on the corners of the sides to avoid injury.
  7. We treat all joints with the fence and walls with a sealant.
  8. We wash the tiles, cleaning the remnants of glue, grout and sealing compound, and after drying, wipe the surface with a damp and then dry cloth.
  9. We install the grill by cutting the sealing sleeve so that it is flush with the tiles.

At this stage, you can proceed directly to the installation of the shower stall and install the water supply system. The structure can be used in a few days, when the grout and sealant are completely dry.
