Ingredients:
- Slightly salted herring - 1 pc.
- Odorless vegetable oil - for herring dressing
- Sugar - 1 tsp
- Red onion - 1 pc.
- Table vinegar - 1, 5 tablespoons
Step by step cooking herring with onions in oil with vinegar, recipe with photo:
1. Peel the onion and rinse under running water. Then chop into thin quarter rings.
2. Put the prepared onion in a deep bowl and add sugar.
3. Next, pour table vinegar to the onion.
4. Pour hot water over the onion, stir and marinate for 15 minutes. You can, of course, not pour the onion with hot water. But this way the pungency and bitterness will go away from it, its taste will become softer and more tender.
5. Meanwhile, while the onions are pickling, prepare the herring. Peel the fish from the film, then cut off the head, tail and fins. Cut open the belly and remove the entrails. 6. Cut the fillets into slices about 1 cm wide.
7. Put the onions on a sieve and leave for 5 minutes to drain all the moisture. Then dry it with a paper towel and place it on a serving dish.
8. Put the herring on an onion pillow, crush it with pickled onions and pour over with vegetable oil. Send the herring with onions in oil with vinegar to the refrigerator for half an hour and serve the appetizer to the table. Garnish with finely chopped green onions before serving.
